thoughts about whumpee being told "Look at me when I'm speaking to you-" because classics are classics:

- Wrenching Them Up By The Hair™. The Classic. beloved.

- Pain so sudden it startles them into looking

- Do they have a collar of some kind? perhaps with a loop? Something to hook your finger into to pull? Or just a leash, I'm not picky.

- Tip of a blade under a chin. Or muzzle of a gun. any weapon. incredibly goofy with a morningstar.

- speaking of muzzle- have you considered: hooking a finger into whumpee's gag and/or muzzle and pulling? because i have. i have.

- Simply grabbing whumpee's chin. Bruisingly Tight.

- Beating whumpee up until they've learnt respect

nothing quite like a whumpee no one knows existed. caretaker inheriting a house and oh god- there's someone in the basement. taking over a ship and- Is that a prisoner? hero getting kidnapped or infiltrating a base, stulbling into a room where they find a bleeding whumpee. spy getting interrogated by someone with suspicious wounds. getting thrown into a cell with someone who's been there for a long time.

"Whumpee woke up, nuzzling into a soft blanket. They were laying on a soft mattress, and something was very, very wrong."

a classic for a reason. they could never make me hate you. perfect. no comment.

my type of thing is heartbroken caretaker forcing a smile on their face when whumpee excitedly (in their own, trying to hide it way) describes a basic decency they weren't allowed before.

list of some tropes that are very clichés and very lovely:

someone being told to use [name] instead of a title and the name just... becomes the title. Yes, Name. Thank you, Name. Sorry, Name. It doesn't mean anything to them.

Someone with good intentions, shocked at what they're seeing and whumper's delightfulness in humiliating whumpee for them. yes, do show them how obedient your pet is.

assumptions. especially ones that cause massive misunderstanding. whumpee spending weeks in fear bc they assumed something and caretaker another. surprise! you're not dying anytime soon.

"[order] or I'll make you" (and it'll be 1838392 times worse) (:

tests. "they'll never know" except they do because it was a test and you failed. suffer.

panic over minor incidents (i.e. the beloved broken glass.)

terrified whumpee still trying to protect their new friend.

whumper bemused as they listen to whumpee's reasons to not [blank] them right now. it's happening anyway but the babbling is always fun.

scrambling away as someone slowly walks behind. so cute.

whumpee being given options and begging. they'll choose but they still beg.

the exact same torture happening every day until whumpee slowly breaks. and then it continues anyway.

whumpee who shows a bit of defiance. maybe gets some hope about freedom. and is immediately reminded of the reality of it all.

the CHEESY trope I'm guilty of enjoying is "I thought-" "You don't think- you obey." is it overdone? perhaps. but you can pry it from my cold dead hands.

i think the best part of recovery whump is when whumpee doesnt quite get whats happening? that period when whumpee either hasnt been told or just doesnt understand whats going on. when they think the rules are weird (there arent any), the assumption that caretaker is their new [whatever], straight up speculating rules into existence.
