From starting at 1.96MB from an uncompressed 4k 60fps @davinciresolvetr.bsky.social avi file that was 8.04 GB for 6.5 secs of footage as a av1 10bit constant quality 20 1080p 30fos but had big loss in quality
To 5.21MB vp9 10 bit 1080p 30fps w low loss constant quality 18 with slow preset, screen tune
Very slow retained the same size, slightly better dark color information & detail
Flicking between the same frame on different vlc players yields extremely, but noticeable, difference
Slower preset is slightly smaller than slow 5.17MB with it being effectively the same as slow barely enough & very slow is only justifiable if extremely needed for fast shots & high contrast with large changes that need to be processed & seen, like grass & small surface details
I used a branch of handbrake called handbrake svt av1 hdr to do this
