Ashfur is, hands down, one of my favorite characters. Not even favorite villain, favorite CHARACTER.
His influence had spanned over multiple arcs. His part in Hawkfrost’s plot, his bitterness over a cat he barely dated, the many attempted murders of his, and the possessing of Bramblestar and murders he caused as the imposter. He has ALWAYS been there, lurking in the shadows, his evilness, it’s all so fun to pin point all the small parts he played even from the beginning.
I love that he doesn’t want power over the clans or even his own, he JUST wants to hurt one specific cat.
He tries to kill Jay, Holly, and Lion. Not because he hates them, but because it would hurt Squilf. He helps Hawkfrost because he knows it would hurt Squilf. It all goes back to her, she is the reason for all the pain Ashfurs inflicted, not because he wants to hurt people, but because he wants to hurt her.
Squilf did literally nothing to deserve this, they dated for what, two moons? If even that? She didn’t even know he was still pissed about it.
Squilf is also my favorite, in a book with 1000+ characters I think it’s fine to have multiple favs, and she is one of them.
But hes delusional and irrational, he does nothing with evil intent UNLESS it will hurt Squilf. Of course, this isn’t explicitly the case, but it started that way.
Anyways. Best written character IMO. If I ever see him it’s on sight bro bc wtf
