To make her delicious hazelnut butter, Mrs Apple takes the skins off hazelnuts and grinds them up into a paste, which she combines with butter and a pinch of salt, and stores in the fridge to spread on hot toast.

🐭 🍰 #BramblyHedge ~ The Spring Story On a beautiful spring day, the whole Brambly Hedge community decides to have a surprise birthday picnic for Wilfred, a young mouse. #JillBarklem who died on 15 November 2017, aged 66 years old, originally conceived the idea for ‘Brambly Hedge’ in the 1970s during her long commutes on the London Underground from her home in Epping to study at St Martin’s School of Art in London. The mice of Brambly Hedge made their first appearance in 1980 when Jill Barklem’s four seasonal stories were published. Her exquisite, intricate illustrations and stories about the mice of Brambly Hedge capture her love for the English countryside, in particular Epping Forest and the Lake District, much like her predecessor Beatrix Potter. Brambly Hedge is an imaginary place, but Jill’s love of the countryside, combined with her in-depth research of the flora and fauna within it meant that the stories have become very real in many of our minds. To create each illustration, Jill began with a complex series of sketches and notes that explored both the detail and the mechanics of the picture. She drew these preliminary sketches over and over again until the image in her mind was replicated exactly on the paper, down to the smallest detail. -Great British Tea Party
