dragon riders are the horse girls of fantasy
fablehaven book one
I love Fablehaven (though I've never gotten around to Dragonwatch. I heard a bunch of unflattering things about it and didn't want to ruin a series I knew I liked with a sequel), so I am filled with a sad longing for a bigger fandom.
There are just so many things I think would be cool to see other fans' perspectives and takes on. Like, do others think the Sorenson Siblings have to have at least a little bit of an unhealthy attachment to each other?
Kendra because Seth got eaten by Olloch, hit with the Shadow Plague, then shot with an arrow in Keys to the Demon Prison.
Seth because he literally watched a stingbulb of his sister die, but also because Kendra was always being sent on missions he wasn't supposed to join, and even he was jealous about it, he also had to be terrified she wouldn't make it back.
They've got to end up with separation anxiety or something. Maybe it's not a super long-lasting thing, because the adults in their lives are aware and actively trying to keep the kids out of danger and recover when they can't. But like, there should be something, right? Am I the only one who thinks that?
Does anyone else think about how hard it must be for Scott and Marla (The Sorenson Parents) to adjust to living in Fablehaven? We see only a tiny bit of them afterwards, so we don't really know. Do they struggle with how vain and petty the fairies are? With how rowdy Satyrs are? With the knowledge that there are nymphs who think drowning people is funny?
Do they ever fully adjust to the changes in their children? Kendra, who doesn't trust as easily as she used to, who has led armies and killed demons, and who they had buried. That's not something you just move past, even if it turns out your child isn't really dead. Their daughter, who used to be so cautious but is now so blasé about danger
Seth, who doesn't get along with people his own age the way he used to, who's less carefree, who they missed growing up. They were only gone for a few months, but their son is mature in ways they couldn't imagine him being. Their son, who used to be so confident, now has this lingering doubt about himself.
Their kids, who just don't need them the way they used to, have grown past them in a way they weren't prepared to happen for another several years.
How fractured is the relationship with the Larsens? Like can they ever reconnect with their kids and their grandchildren, to the point where the relationship is what it was? Do Kendra and Seth still prefer them to the Sorensons? Do they ever completely fit in at Fablehaven?
I have more, but I think that's enough for one post
Past hyperfixations 😌
I haven't drawn then in YEARS this is crazy
You do NOT want to see how I used to draw them 😬
happy pride month to all the fablehaven characters
I forgot Seth like straight up saw his sister die directly in front of him. Like so many things in the books are traumatic but that's a whole new level.
ferrin is just rained the grass is wet get up 😦
BAM aram jumpscare... i dont like it tho i drew him really bad mb 😔
Fablehaven/Dragonwatch sequel but it's just Kendra and Seth trying to find a therapist who won't immediately diagnose them with schizophrenia
