Tessa sighed as her hands tied her hair up in a ponytail and she got ready for yet another round at the hospital. It had been what--three, maybe four months since she had been back and it was safe to say that she hated it, but with her father terminally ill and her mother wanting nothing to do with him, she had been the one to put on her big girl pants and drive back to take care of him. It had been a month since he had passed and no matter how much people said their condolences and said they were sorry, she knew she wasn’t.
Once her hands had been sanitized and she picked up a chart from one of the beds, the name written on it sounded vaguely familiar, although she didn’t recognize the face.
“Brandon Winnick... Knife stab to the abdomen.” Huh... impressive. Probably the highlight of her night, but she would be so lucky. “What did you do to piss her off?” The brunette teased. Possibly the least professional thing she had ever said to a patient before, but that guy looked like he had a good sense of humor. Heh, what did she know? It wasn’t like she was a great judge of character. Plus, growing up like she did, in a town where everyone knew her as the Sheriff’s daughter and with a crazy abusive asshole for a father made her kind of untouchable in her own way.
Her rubber-gloved fingers examined his wound for a moment, before she looked up at him. “Doesn’t look too deep, but you’re going to need some stitches. I’ll go get a suturing kit and be right back with you.” She said, stripping off her gloves and throwing them in the trash near the gurney. “Don’t try anything crazy before I’m back.”
One push is all it takes || Brandon & Jordan
As her gaze fell on the table she quickly realized she'd wasted a lot of the day doing nothing. Not that that was really anything new but Jordan was fairly good about keeping on top of her schoolwork. School had always been important to her, growing up the way she had, with all the uncertainties.. it'd been a place that made sense. She pushed those sorts of thoughts to the back of her head and pulled out a mixing bowl. She needed something to do and food always seemed like a good answer. After pulling out all the required ingredients she picked up her phone and texted Brandon. Telling him to come over and forgetting to ask nicely she quickly shot off another text saying please before going back to measuring flour.
