i have a secret thing for brant from wuwa but please don't tell him, probably ooc, fluff but reader is oblivious and brant is down bad
you think brant's tacet mark is very pretty.
on the left side of his chest, he doesn't do much to hide it with that loose, carefree shirt of his that ripples with the wind. he stands at the very helm of the boat, arms out as he enjoys the morning sea breeze that ruffles through his turquoise hair.
scrap that, you think everything about brant is pretty. his hair, his face, his charisma, he's so unfairly pretty that you can't help but feel your gut tighten when you call his name.
"what are you doing awake this early?" you ask. he turns around with a wide smile on his face.
"why, my favourite crewmate," he lands on the deck in front of you with a gentle thud, boots hitting the planks with each step. you try not to drift your gaze downward to said tacet mark. "am i not allowed to enjoy a beautiful sunrise? life at sea can be so remarkable, i'm soaking in the sights before we set down on land for a few days."
"i'd argue that the sunrise on land can be even prettier," you point out, hugging yourself even tighter with the fluffy blanket you pulled from your bed. "besides, how are you not cold? it's freezing right now, what were you thinking when you came out here in just that?"
he's dressed in his usual white pants and flimsy undershirt, yet seems miraculously unaffected. "worried about me? please, fret some more, my dear y/n, i like it when you sound so concerned."
"flirting at the break of dawn, captain? save your dramatics for the stage and come back downstairs," you huff before unwrapping the fluffy blanket from your own shoulders, draping it over him instead.
he stands compliantly as you wrap him tight, and he prays that your hands can not feel how rapidly his heart hammers in his chest. that genuine concerned look in your eyes, because you worry for him- oh, what he'd do to be in your gaze like this all the time. so, like lovesick fool he is, brant vies to keep your attention a little longer.
"but the sunrise is so beautiful! won't you watch it with me?"
he does this pleading look that makes your heart skip a beat, and it catches the light of the sun perfectly, his magenta eyes shining so brightly that you have to wonder how you are the only person on the ship who can resist his charm. the other crewmates have no issue going against his whims, yet you succumb every time, why is it that his performance only works on you?
behind brant's facade, is a genuine man with a heart of gold, and you are privileged to see him like this; unfiltered and unmasked. but you can't help but wish that he'd stop toying with your heart every chance he gets.
you tear your gaze away, watching the sunrise's brilliant colours blend together instead.
well, it is magnificent, it'd be shame to miss it when you were already here.
"fine," you relent and he beams, rivalling the radiance of the morning light. he then wraps the blanket around the two of you, wrapping one arm over your shoulder to coat you with warmth.
you follow him to the helm, your shoulder pressed against his chest before he guides you to sit between his legs. it is brant who pulls you closer, it is brant who tucks his chin to rest on your shoulder, it is you who eventually melts into him, savouring his warmth as the cool, unforgiving breeze of a winter at sea hits your face.
it was a nice coolant to the heat in your face, flush intensified by this proximity where you could feel his chest breathe against your back.
as you both chat quietly, a blue hue eventually overtakes the brilliant orange, and clouds begin detailing the sky. you know you've stayed longer than intended when some troupe members begin looking for you, calling your names from the deck.
"we're here!" you exclaim over your shoulder as brant reluctantly retracts his chin from resting on you.
someone's calling for you, needing your help with something, and you're scrambling to your feet, leaving the warm sanctity of your morning moment with brant. he sighs at the gap you've left behind, dreamily hugging your blanket- that's got your scent, even tighter around his body.
brant wonders if you know that you've got him wrapped around your finger, or if you're simply clueless. for the sake of his own sanity, he hopes that it's the latter, but you are not the kind of person to lead him on, he simply chose the most oblivious recipient for his love.
"captain, they're calling for you too, c'mon!" you exclaim.
"coming, my dear!"
