Tonight’s San Francisco adventure was my meal choice at the new Berliner Berliner replacing Rosemunde Sausage Grill. I chose the evening special called the Hugenotten with Anduolle sausage, spicy beef chili and sauerkraut. I topped it all with spicy brown mustard and curry ketchup. Wow, this dog was unbelievably delicious. I savored every tasty bite. My friend Robyn mentioned it to Armin last night and I wanted to try this new direction Berliner Berliner was taking the sausage at this legendary Haight location next to the Toronado. Fassler Hall is more than just beerNow I'm a regular at Fassler Hall at least once a month, where I attend a board game meet up. Today though I visited with the family for food. I started with some Duck Fat Fries. The portions is pretty big so it's easily shareable. Fassler has recently updated their menu to include some more traditional German food but I still go for the traditional Bratwurst with kraut & mustard!! And yes I had a beer... trying to be better this year so instead of getting the usual Liter I opted for the 1/2 Liter!!

Prospect Heights, This Is Where You Should Be Hanging Out

When I lived in Cobble Hill, chef Saul Bolton’s eponymous restaurant was one of my favorite neighborhood spots—until it relocated to the Brooklyn Museum in 2013. While I was sad to no longer be in walking distance of his fresh, New American cuisine, I was encouraged to check out Saul's more casual Prospect Heights eatery, The Vanderbilt. And after one brunch there, I was hooked. The bacon comes in strips so thick it rivals Peter Luger's, and the twist on a classic Pimm’s Cup (Pimm’s, gin, lemon, basil and cucumber) can soften the heart of even the most scornful bruncher. For dinner, there are juicy house-made sausages, tangy sauerkraut and German potato salad, and a biscuit-crusted pot pie that will transport you to your childhood with just one bite. During happy hour, you can even get a heavy pour of pinot grigio for $5.
