Hal  stared  at  her  ,  then  opened  his  mouth  .  then  closed  it  again  before  giving  a  “hrmpfh”  noise  &&  gestured  .  “  the  police  can’t  help  right  now  .  ”  he  told  her  ,  looking  around  the  corner  of  the  wall  ,  waiting  to  see  if  he  could  hear  ANYTHING  from  the  others  that  were  after  him  .  clearing  his  throat  .  “  i’m  not  telling  you  -  i’m asking  you  .  it’s  safer  if  we  don’t  involve  them  .  ”  he  paused  .  “  come  on  ,  we  have  to  keep  moving  .  my  home  is  not  far  .  they  can  SMELL  your  hand  .  ”  he  glanced  down  at  the  bleeding  cut  in  her  palm  &&  swallowed  with  some  difficulty  ,  pushing  his  own  hunger  away .

“Ah, there you are, Zoe - I was just about to come and look for you.” He stated, offering his young companion a warm smile as she appeared in the console room. After they had experienced yet another situation which would have ensured almost certain death for the pair of them, had it not been for a combination of logic, tactical thinking and sheer good luck, The Doctor felt as if a change of scenery was long overdue.

“I was thinking - why don’t we try and go on a little holiday, yes? That business with the barbaric slave auction on Voraxx has left us a little weary, hasn’t it? I think we rightly deserve some peace and quiet...”

He uttered a small cough.

“With that in mind, is there anywhere in particular you would like to go? And before you offer an interjection about my inability to steer the TARDIS, I’m sure the old girl will co-operate if we coax her in the right way.”

    He’s come to enjoy her company. He finds himself (though he wouldn’t likely openly admit it) looking forward to their occasional sharing of fries and whatnot, and chatting.  She had wisdom for one so young– the thought alone saddened him a little (what must she have gone through for her to seemingly mature so quickly–?) but he never voiced it. Tried his best not to let it show either– he had a feeling she wouldn’t be a fan of looks of pity or sadness from adults. He had enough respect for the young lady to at least make an effort to TRY not to be a condescending bastard.       “True…”  he nods– then glances over at her with a bit of a playful glint to his eye. “….Plans are nice, though.”  a tick of silence.       “– Have I ever told you what I do for work…? I guard important things and people. And… you can never plan for whatever shit comes your way. It’s maddening, at times. You have to be able to be rash sometimes. It’s like a skill. ”
