The words repeated in his head over and over again, his heart sinking more and more as he gathered up as much as he could in a bag, his hands quaking as he tried not to look Ziminder in the face.
He kept the tears in, it wouldn't help, Zim had made his choice and he knew it. He was doing what he thought was right.
"Teva..." Zim murmured, trying to get the larger hunter to look at him. "Teva please... Talk to me..." But he got no answer. Just a look of absolute hurt before something was being placed in his hands.
Upon looking down, he saw the collar that Teva wore in the bedroom, and part of him screamed at himself. Teva's collar, the one thing that seemed to make him more sure of himself. And here he was, giving it to Zim as if he owned it.
"Teva..."
"I... won't bother you again, Zim..." For being so large, his voice seemed almost non existent and strained, as if trying to hold back emotions. "You... You won't ever have to deal with me again... I'm... I'm sorry I ever bothered you... or ruined a good thing..."
With that, he was slinging his bag over his shoulder and quickly leaving while sliding his helmet upon his head.
"Teva!" Ziminder yelled as he followed him. "Wait!"
But he didn't stop. He didn't halt or slow. The helmet hid the tears, and his armor his shaking. Where was he to go now? What was he going to do? The one thing he thought would be in his life forever had just been ripped from his chest. And the pain was almost enough to floor him right there. But he had to be strong, he had to keep walking. It was better for, Zim, wasn't it? That's all he wanted... things better for Zim
