…You never know… We were checking out Tulsa Ballet’s BTS documentary vids about the creation of NYC-based choreographer Jennifer Archibald’s “Breakin’ Bricks” work, based on the themes of the 21 Tulsa Race Massacre when we were surprised to see the 2001 ASOG poster and libretto on the table of materials they were reviewing & researching. Its been 20 years so we sometimes forget the honor Tulsa University’s McFarlin Library Tulsa Race Riot of 1921 collection bestowed on us when they requested ASOG material to be archived within this special collection. Breakin’ Bricks turned out to be a powerful, eye-popping, engaging piece of contemporary dance that hopefully will be staged for many more audiences in the future. While I doubt our 2001 draft of ASOG had any serious impact, (hahaha, we were really green in our craft back then) it is still amazing to realize that we were in a proverbial “room where it happened” by proxy. @TulsaBallet @jarchdance @utulsa #LoJoWerkz #BreakinBricks #TulsaBallet #JenniferArchibald #ASongofGreenwood #McFarlinLibrary #1921TulsaRaceMassacreSpecialCollection #ASOGtheLift #NewMusicalSeriesinDevelopment #Tulsa1921 #BlackWallStreet #TulsaRaceMassacre #Greenwood #1921TulsaMassacre https://www.instagram.com/p/CWWrtxRPe5k/?utm_medium=tumblr
