Richard Breitenfeld sings Don Carlo (1913)
Born in 1869, Breitenfeld sang for many years at the Frankfurt Opera; he participated in the 1912 premiere of Franz Schreker’s Der Ferne Klang. He was arrested by the Nazis for being Jewish and was sent to the Theresienstadt concentration camp, where he was murdered in 1944.
Maybe I should mention that Posa is my favorite opera character.
