"You’ve been crying haven’t you?"
Staring at the ground in the hopes of hiding her red rimmed eyes from Grayson, Auden knew she hadn’t fooled him. Crying wasn’t something Auden liked doing even when she was alone. It was a weakness. Spending some times at Grayson’s apartment, she was forced to make some vague excuse and run out of the living room to lock herself in the bathroom, because the phone call she’d gotten was something she had never expected. “My, uh, my mother died.” Her voice was quiet, her lower lip trembling and she tightened her arms around her knees. She had been convinced to unlock the door so Grayson could come in, where he had found her on the floor. Tears threatened to flow once more, and Auden buried her head in her knees, jumping slightly when she felt Grayson pull her into his lap, trying to let herself be soothed by his murmuring and his hand against her hair.
"I don’t know how to say it. But you know what I’m trying to say, right?"
Auden wanted to laugh, or joke, play it off. She had a number of responses ready in her head, but all of them died in her throat. She had a pretty good idea of what it was Grayson was trying to say, but she didn’t know what to say back. He hadn’t really said anything yet, and the right words to say were at the tip of her tongue, but something was stopping her. So instead, she nodded, chest tight. “I, I think so.” She was scared of holding his gaze but couldn’t do anything else, the honesty and vulnerability in his eyes not releasing her. “Me too.”
All could think about was the alcohol thrumming through her veins and Grayson where he was stood beside her. She leant against him to stop herself from swaying, eyes closed and a lazy smile on her lips. The music muddled her thoughts but the heat radiating off of Grayson ensured that he was at the forefront of her mind. She wasn’t sure who he was talking to, and didn’t bother finding out, instead risking her stability by standing independently to stand in front of him. If the stranger complained, she wasn’t aware. “You’re cute.” She slurred, reaching up to prod the spot on his cheek where his dimple would sink in, grinning. “Like really, really attractive. And you’re all mine.” Her tone was satisfied, her eyes closing once more. Grateful for the added height her shoes gave her, Auden leaned up and hooked her arms around his neck, not caring who was watching- although she probably should have- as she pressed her lips against his, humming against his mouth.
First to roll out of bed when the baby cries in the middle of the night
I don’t think either of them would be eager to do so, and they’d lie there for a few minutes grumbling about who went last time and who has to get up early in the morning. Auden would nudge Grayson until he got up and Grayson would pretend he was still asleep to get Auden to get up. They take it in turns.
Uses strange methods to potty train
I think Auden would panic that she was doing things wrong and would end up spending hours reading baby books and then she turns around and Grayson is getting the baby to go in the potty by doing something none of the books mentioned.
Tries to sleep in the baby’s bed
Okay but instead of this, why can’t we have the baby asleep in their bed with Grayson on one side and Auden on the other? I like that more.
Struggles with changing diapers
Auden would take sooo long trying to do it super carefully, lining up the straps, and then the baby would have made a mess again, so she’d be super tired and about to cry as she wordlessly begs Grayson to try.
Panics that they’re a bad parent
Auden. Auden panics allowed, but I think Grayson would panic internally, get wrapped up in his thoughts until Auden comforts him.
Falls asleep trying to get the baby to sleep
Both both both both
Tries eating the baby food
Auden dares Grayson to do it and films it, claiming she could be rich if she sold it.
Is hyper sensitive when the baby gets hurt
I feel like so many of these are both like?? I can see Grayson taking the baby out for a walk so Auden can nap and then something happens and he comes back super panicked and worried he did something horrible.
Baby proofs the house meticulously
Auden would make Grayson do it because even though she tried, she did something the wrong way and broke a cupboard.
Follows the bus on the first day of Kindergarten
They’re both stood there watching it, then I can picture Auden starting to walk after it as it leaves and she doesn’t even realise she’s doing it when Grayson puts his hand on her shoulder.
Cries at the Christmas play
Okay but if Auden couldn’t stop smiling even though her cheeks were aching, and she takes a second to quickly look at Grayson and notices that he’s tearing up that would be super cute.
Talks through the nightmares
I think both of them would, like one of them got up to comfort the baby and when realising what happened, they’d bring them back into the bedroom and both Auden and Grayson would be there murmuring that everything is going to be okay.
Hey guys! I know I haven't been on lately, and that's because my family and I are in the process of moving. Which means packing a lot of boxes in a short amount of time... very stressful. That is why I haven't done replies in 198309 years. BUT we will be moved in within this coming week, which means replies will definitely be coming soon. I just wanted to make a little note as to why I've been MIA lately, and apologize for making you all wait so long. Please still love me. x
I think they both do, but it never gets horrendously messy, they just pick up after each other. Like if they were exhausted, they’d just strip as they walked to the bed and fall asleep before clearing up.
forgets to run the dishwasher
Again, I’m not sure that either of them are fantastic when it comes to the little things about keep a place tidy and running smoothly, so they’d just whack it on whenever they actually noticed it. They both forget.
pumps gas for the car
Grayson, because Auden doesn’t actually own a car of her own so she doesn’t think about it.
drives when they’re going somewhere
They take it in turns, Auden likes when he surprises her with a particular restaurant or evening out so he drives then, but she’s fond of driving herself around as well. Grayson has very nice cars.
rearranges the furniture
I reckon Grayson would be away and come back to the place looking completely different because Auden got restless and moved everything around.
falls asleep with the TV on
Both of them but Grayson more than Auden, he has a more hectic schedule, but Auden loves it.
gets to use the bathroom first
Auden makes sure she gets in there first because she takes longer, but likes being in the shower and having Grayson shaving or brushing his teeth at the same time.
decides the temperature for the ac/heater
Can I say it’s an automatic thing idk
sets up holiday decorations
Both of them!! Cute!!!
uses the bathroom with the door open
Auden might forget to close the door when she showers but wouldn’t they both close the door…
fixes the plumbing/calls the plumber
I think Grayson would try to fix it but break it more so Auden calls the plumber, shaking her head at him but grinning.

"I’ll be the best worst mistake you ever made."
"What if I’m bound for disaster?"
Bleary eyed and still half asleep, Auden tugged her hands through her hair and pushed herself to sit up. “What?” There were a number of nights in the middle of which Grayson would wake up, usually from a bad dream, and it would take a while for him to calm down or feel as if he could sleep again. Auden was doing her best, but there were times she worried that she wasn’t good enough, that she couldn’t help him. He continued talking but Auden couldn’t register his words, instead getting out of bed to fetch Grayson from where he was stood across the room, his back to her. Smoothing her hands across his bare back and looping her arms around his middle, Auden rested her cheek against his warm skin before turning him in her grasp. “You are going to be fine. Better than fine.” She fought a yawn. “You’re going to be great, because I’m not going to let anything bad happen. If you’re headed for disaster, I’m coming with you.” She smiled. “Will you come back to bed now?”
♗: Your muse falling asleep with their head in my muse’s lap.
It was five o’clock in the morning, at least in New York it was. Auden was tired enough that she couldn’t even remember which country they were in, just knowing it was somewhere in Europe- or were they in Australia?- and the time was all messed up but somehow it wasn’t affecting Grayson, who was all ready to go. He was reminding her of their dinner reservations, but Auden groaned without opening her eyes. “Too tired.” She grumbled, fidgeting slightly before settling again with Grayson’s arm in her grasp, holding him close. “Just, shhh.” He didn’t speak again and she smiled. “Thank you.”
"Listen to my voice, okay? I need you to stay with me. I’m bringing you to the hospital."
"Wait… what…" She couldn’t remember why she might need to go to the hospital. Auden hated hospitals. She hated the smell and the squeaky floors and the possibility of needles and the fact that on every floor, someone was dying. She couldn’t go there. Attempting to sit up proved pointless, because someone- she suspected Grayson- was pushing her back down gently and demanding that she stay put. It hurt to open her eyes and so instead of listening to Grayson and looking at him, Auden tried to sleep. But then she remembered. The car, the cab, dodging a guy on a bike and swerving on some ice before it flipped. Her heart jumped up into her throat and she tried to sit up again, because she knew that Grayson had been sat beside her. “Grayson,” she reached out blindly, a firm grip on the hand she discovered and hoped to be his, “are you okay?”
"Balloons? Really?" // "I think I’m falling in love with you." // [text]: Party. My house. Tonight. Bring Alcohol. // [text]: Is that you’re way of saying you miss me?
"Balloons? Really?"
"I think I’m falling in love with you."
Speechless wasn’t a word that could often be used to describe Auden, but it seemed that Grayson had a knack for saying something that would make sure she couldn’t form a response. There was only one thing she should actually say to Grayson’s admission, but the words seemed to stick in her throat, a painful lump that had the potential to ruin everything. Although Grayson hadn’t exactly said those three words, he might as well have, and it was almost worse that he didn’t, because ‘I think’ wasn’t the most secure phrase there was. It was all Auden had ever feared, from the offset, but with Grayson looking at her so earnestly, the girl just opened her mouth and hoped the right thing would come out. “I think I already have.”

" Ask if I'm okay. Just ask." // " My dad is dead." // "10 months sober, I must admit." // [MSG]: I see you'll flirt with just about anyone. (angsty grauden!!!)
"Ask if I’m okay. Just ask."
"My dad is dead."
What do you say to someone that just lost a parent? There’s nothing. There are no words, and every apology sounds hollow. So Auden didn’t say anything, she simply pulled Grayson down and held his head against her chest, wrapping her arms as tightly around him as she possibly could. She kissed the top of his head before pressing her cheek against his hair, not knowing how long she’d need to sit there for him but knowing she’d sit for days if it would help. “I’m here.” She murmured. “I’ve got you. I’m not going anywhere.”
"10 months sober, I must admit."
It seemed that more often than not Grayson had a revelation hidden in his thoughts that would knock Auden breathless. There were so many things she still didn’t know about him, and whether that was exciting or scary, she hadn’t quite made up her mind. “Well that’s…” She tried to find the right words, the right thing to say. Auden had never been great with the ‘right’ things. “Congratulations?” The questioning intonation wasn’t intended but it came out that way, and her smile was false enough to make her cheeks ache. “That’s, that’s great. I didn’t know you needed to, uh, count.” She could vaguely remember something about an alcoholic family or Lane men being good at drinking, but nothing like this.
[MSG]: I see you’ll flirt with just about anyone.
