The Others (2001)
I absolutely love the horror genre represented in this aesthetically rich movie. The whole premise of the two worlds of the living and the ghosts behind the veil, was probably represented accurately for the first time in this genre. While most ghost lore thrive on jump scares of the living trespassing on the 'others,' this accurately showed the philosophy of the in-between and that use of the mist, and is as such waaaay ahead of the curve. I loved that moment when the little girl when donned with a veil showed her true age, accurately representing the concept of the world beyond the veil. While the girl herself, driven by emotion, travelled in-between the worlds to view and be seen by the 'others.' Such a spiritually heightened /advanced vision in the film Director's part, very original for a story concept.
Feels like we've regressed from such advanced art forms and originality in the early 2000s to the present timeline of makeshift cgi film-making. Such nuance of someone who sees beyond the veil and thinks outside the box, so glad to watch this interpretation, such a gift. I can gush on and on, but for brevity this is a film review.
