Scatterbrain has been a project that's way more interesting than the new I Prevail album without Brian, even though I still like both.

Bitter is such a creative diss track, the way Brian laughs at the Violent Nature breakdown is pure cinema. Truth is, without Brian, I Prevail reduced themselves to cookie cutter metalcore, no personality and no memorable lyrics or hooks.

Violent Nature had some good tracks, but when I take the full record it's not as memorable as this Scatterbrain project seems like. All 3 songs (minus the T. Swift cover) have been great and way more memorable despite leaning into the usual octanecore formula. It's more basic but also more unique because of his voice and songwriting. I'm definitely looking forward to listening to a record by him in the future

I Prevail's new album was one of my favorite records of last year despite the shady shit that has been going on with them since Brian departed from the band. It's genuinely a great core record, even though it very much misses the vibe that Brian added to the old songs.

However with the new interview coming out I kinda see stuff from a different light. They (and I include the label here as well) abused their power over Brian and with the contract that prevented him from releasing music, it became clear that for Fearless, the money they made was way more important than the health of a member of their golden goose band. Brian also said that some members of their crew reached out, as well as people from outside which was nice to hear.

I don't think it's fully I Prevail's fault, it was more miscommunication and shit PR work than actually being genuinely mean towards Brian. But Fearless was absolutely at fault here risking the mental and physical health of Brian just because they wanted to milk the fuck out of his band, which ultimately destroyed their relationship AND their own reputation by hanging on to a contract and labeling Brian as an insane person after his crashout on social media.

I'm just torn between liking I Prevail's new stuff but also kind of resenting it because of what we know now of Brian's perspective.
