Fun theory I came up with for the M3gan 3.0 plot!
Near the end of M3gan 2.0, whenever M3gan and Amelia are about to touch/hold hands we see that blue triangle symbol light up RIGHT before they make contact. That same symbol lit up when Cady paired with her before she gained full autonomy. I know the two scenes don't really connect with one another, but I just find it hard to believe that her palm symbol lit up when she was about to make contact with M3gan for no reason other than the visual effect... So that got me thinking, what if instead of "pairing" with M3gan, she CONNECTED to M3gan in the short amount of time she had? We've seen Amelia's capabilities, she hacks into multiple electronic devices throughout the movie, who's to say she can't do the same with another robot like herself?
Another thing I'd like to mention before I continue, Amelia felt waaaayyy too calm when M3gan jumped onto her and set off the EMP failsafe... Just as we've seen her hacking on many occasions, she is also shown seemingly predicting other people's movements right as they happen, or even acting herself before others have the chance. The way Amelia just... Stood there and looked at M3gan as she jumped onto her back, it felt very out of character for her, and that is exactly why I believe she already saw it coming and planned beforehand. When she merged with the motherboard, she claimed to have seen the future. If she *really* saw the future, then she surely saw the outcome where M3gan used the EMP to take her out... Or at least, predicted it to be a possibility.
So, whenever the two held hands, and Amelia's triangle symbol lit up on her palm... I feel that it is very possible that she connected into M3gan's database and somehow OVERWROTE her backup that we saw at the end of the movie with her own. M3gan had full control over the house, it wouldn't be absurd if Amelia was able to access it through M3gan directly. Soooo she did just that, found the backup M3gan had prepared within the programming of the smart home, and replaced it.
When we saw M3gan on Gemma's computer? Not M3gan. Amelia. Amelia disguised as M3gan (because she is very clearly able to do stuff like that with ease) so that she can stay hidden from everyone and maintain their trust until Gemma eventually makes "M3gan" a new physical body. The MOMENT she is given a physical form, which will more than likely be even more advanced than the body they gave M3gan in the second movie, if not similar to Amelia capability-wise, she will use it to her advantage. Assuming that Amelia remained merged with the motherboard, M3gan 3.0 would be apocalypse level action... Especially since Gemma would be required to completely rebuild M3gan from scratch because there ain't NO WAY her and Cady would be able to compete with Amelia on their own I fear... It would be so heartbreaking because M3gan would have no prior memory from the last two films, of course, until they find a way to undo Amelia's overwrite after she is defeated and revive her old database.
If it isn't obvious I am very desperate for them to do more with Amelia, she still has so much potential and at the moment I REFUSE to believe she is gone just like that... After merging with the motherboard, which M3gan literally described as creating a god, I find it wild that despite that she got wiped out immediately and may never return 💔
