I am obsessed with “Wolfwalkers”, the latest animated feature out of @cartoonsaloon and hands down my favorite film of 2020! I stumbled upon an empty shadowbox frame and so intended for my next LEGO project to be a mosaic with which to fill it. I guess this turned out to be more of a brick sketch; the depth lent itself well to overlaying the wolf shape over Mehb’s face. This was a daunting challenge and like most, I considered it a failed attempt and nearly abandoned it not too far along. Creating faces with LEGO parts is ridiculously difficult and always looks a little weird, and Mehb is already a pretty wild character to try and capture. However, I had several of those gold tail pieces on hand and the shape of the wolf pretty well envisioned, and just had to keep going to see if I could realize the vision. I’ve included some WIPs showing my idea board for reference and the initial base shape of Mehb’s face before finishing with the Wolf overlay and greebled leafy bits. I’m pleased with myself for not only finishing something but getting it done pretty quickly, having not spent much more than a day building. I had some ideas for better parts and connections, but limited myself to what I had on hand.
