Tradition Bridal Room - Kano State Repost from @kaibakano @TopRankRepost #TopRankRepost Dakin Amarya ~ Bride's Room ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Although this is in a museum it is not all that far fetched to find many traditional rooms like this in still existing mud houses. The contents might be a little different but this was how a bride's room was traditionally arranged 'Jeran daki'. Simple and very modest. Traditionally, 'Kayan Lefe' which are clothing items gifted to the bride from the groom or his family will be in the large baskets on the right. Then you have Randa (clay pots) where water is stored and keeps it cold. On the shelves are Tasa for food storage and then there are other items. The musical instrument Shantu which is placed above the the picture is made of gourd and is hollow. I don't know if it was a common item found in a bride's room. When one pauses and reflects on the room, and the contents, one can only imagine how not just Africa but how the whole world has moved far from simplicity. #africa #africanblog #africanblogger #africantourism #blog #blogger #bridalroom #kanostate #nigeria #nigerianblog #nigerianblogger #nigeriantourism #travel #travelblog #travelblogger #travelnigeria #tradition #northernnigeria #northernnigeriantourism #tourism #tourismblog #tourismblogger #tourisminnigeria #unravellingnigeria (at Kano State)
