BrightLights fic: Confessions (And it isn't a love one)
Summary: Doom has something very important to tell Barry.
Near the local gas-station, the rat twins stod outside. They both seemed to be waiting for someone. Or rahter, Doom was waiting for someone. For some reason, Doom seemed more anxious than he normally was. And that's saying alot when Doom is already a pretty anxious person. Mood put her hands on her twin brother's shouldiers. "Calm down, I'm sure he'll understand! And besides, if you were able to tell me, I'm sure you'll be able to tell him!" Doom looked over at his sister, sweat dripping down his face. "That was DIFFERENT!" he exclaimed. "YOU'RE part of my family-! Of course YOU would understand-!" Mood sighed. "That is true, but you and Barry also knew each other since Kindergarden, right? And didn't he ALSO have the same issue you were having?" Doom paused. Mood was always able to calm him down during his nervous fits. "...You're right. But I'm just....I've never told anyone this, aside from you..." Mood gave the nervous hybrid a hug. "Even if things turn out bad, the fact you had the courage to admit this at all is admirable." Mood said, her tond as soft as ever. Doom smiled, she was right, he COULD do this. Suddenly, a short green cat anthry ran up to the duo, catching his breath. "I'm....I'm here-!" he said with short breath. "Sorry I was late, my moms gave me a MASSIVE earfull..." Doom nodded in understanding. He knew that Barry's moms were pretty strict, but he knew they really did mean well. "I'll go get some cheese crackers while you two talk! Good luck~!" Mood beamed as she skipped inside the gas-station. "So....what did you wanna talk about?" Doom's heart began to beat faster, his head pounding while he began to sweat like a popsicle left out in the sun for too long. Barry started to get worried. "Doom, if you're too nervous, you don't have to-" "N-NO! I WANT YOU TO KNOW THIS!" Doom shouted. "Sheesh, no need to shout!" Barry responded. Doom looked down in shame, and then inhaled. "So...uhh....you know how....you told me how when you were younger....you always felt like you weren't the gender you were born as...?" Barry looked confused, but nodded. "Uhhh....yeah? Why do you mention that?" Doom began to fiddle with his thumbs, but it was too late to back down now. "Well....I....I kinda had....the s-same issue as....you did..." Barry's ears perked up. "S-So....ever since....I-I wanna say....4th grade...? I've always felt more identified with....f-femminenity....at first I thought it was just a stupid, dumb phase....but....as I got older...the feeling just got stronger....and stronger..." Doom began to choke up a bit. "I always felt like something was wrong with me....that I was....broken....and even know, I STILL feel like something is off-!" The poor rat began to cry a bit, Barry walked up to him and gave him a gently pat on the back. "Calm down, it's okay." Doom's quivering breath slowed down a bit. "But....as you know...my sister recently came out....and that combined with your gender exploration journey....made me realize...I....might also be a girl...." Doom covered his face, shame overtaking his body and tears rolling down his face. Barry was silent for a bit, before giving Doom a gentle smile. "Are you nervous that I wouldn't accept you? Of course I would! I totally understand what you're going through." Doom uncovered his face, looking at the shorter anthry before him. "S-So....could you...maybe....start refering to me a girl...?" Barry nodded. In that moment, Doom felt happy tears coming down her face as she pulled Barry into a hug, sobbing like she never sobbed before. Barry didn't say anything, only returning the hug. Little did the two know that Mood was secretly watching through the window. Mood smiled, proud of her twin sister.
