The Battle Box - Hidden entrance that leads to the Fort Canning Underground Bunker which was the command center for British Malaya until Japanese occupation.  The tour was fascinating which gives a lot of history behind the fort as well as the surrounding area.  The main entrance to the museum is further down the hill.

THE 229-year-old Protestant Cemetery in Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah is the final resting place for many prominent personalities who contributed to the early development of George Town.

THE 229-year-old Protestant Cemetery in Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah is the final resting place for many prominent personalities who contributed to the early development of George Town.

One of them was Philip Dundas who was appointed Penang’s first governor by the East India Company in 1805.

His governance lasted only two years, as he succumbed to malaria at the age of 44.

Let’s #Discover - Iskandar of Perak

Someone who gave their names to Istana Iskandariah and Iskandariah Bridge, Sultan Iskandar Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Idris Murshidul Azzam Shah I Rahmatullah (ooooooooh, what a name:)) was the 30th Sultan of Perak, back at the beginning of 20th century, a part of British Malay States. He bears a title of Marhum Kaddasullah, given to him posthumously, he was succeeded as Sultan by his brother-in-law; and preceded him was his stepbrother.

Iskandar’s reign saw some territories returned by the British, although he was born and died in a country that had been back then called British Malaya.

Good to discover a bit of such history.
