This adventure marked the first time where the initial meeting with the Johnson took place virtually, in the Matrix, which would be even more mind-blowing if we all haven’t had to live through the COVID-19 pandemic and Zooming everywhere. But after Mr. – err, Mrs. Johnson seems to break Matrix protocol by leaving her microphone unmuted walking through walls and otherwise acting quite disoriented, the team is left wondering if they have been hired by an AI.

Which is a Brand-New Idea and not at all lifted from Neuromancer.

This is a Maiden Rescue: a girl, Fayette Myers, is missing. She is a student at a private all-girls boarding school, the Rhododendron Conservatory in Bellevue.

Cuz my baby broke all the rules.

The pay is very good: 10,000¥ each up front, and another 20,000¥ (each!) upon Fayette’s safe return. The pay has to be good, because they are given very little to go on: a picture of the girl and where she goes to school.

So that’s where the runners must start.
