These kids are how old?
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a child star? Or have the ability to absolutely shred a wave before earning your driver’s license? Yeah me too.
Not every surfer is lucky enough to have been born into a lineup, catching and riding their first waves during the elementary school years. Let’s not forget how tough learning this sport actually is- taking years to even start to think you’re a decent surfer. Now we shouldn’t forget about the select few children who just skip through all that nonsense and make surfing look embarrassingly easy. It’s a pretty special experience to be that good at such a young age. The Hurley Youth series is a pretty easy way to see some of these talented groms absolutely shred without all the frills and stories. It’s just a bunch of talented kids who are way ahead of the game just doing their thing.
Dean Vandewalle, Winter Vincent, Bronson Meidy and Eli Hanneman are four of Oz’s most promising young surfers- all between the ages of 12 and 15 years old. These kids are proof that the sport is growing among kids and they are absolutely killing it! While the high performance bar is consistently growing, it’s also simultaneously being reached quicker by some. So, if these kids are a look into surfing’s future, then I’d say the future is in good hands.
