Here's my first pony song since February 7th 2013. This is a take on 2pac's 'Hail Mary' called 'Hail Trixie'. It's based on the Season 3 episode 'Magic Duel' and comes from the perspective of the Alicorn Amulet as it's trying to seduce Trixie with the prospect of absolute power. I wrote the day AFTER the episode and never got around to actually recording it till today.

This rant may contain less than six curse words...and a big opinion
So, I haven't ever actually really made a proper post on here. Or maybe I did once when I first signed up. But tonight I'm really tempted to just let out and rant myself until I can't rant anymore and my brain is just exploded mushy bits rolling around my skull.
Ahem.
Right.
Now, anyone who has ever heard Cats knows he doesn't really fuck around. It's why I see his music as being vastly closer to the definition of hardcore rap. He swears, he digs at people and he generally does a bloody good job of it all. The rhyme is brilliant, the lyrics flow and the beat is wicked in his new one. I love it. It's the first video to go into my Favourites list.
So, I scroll down to post a comment and suddenly, right there...people are saying how disgraceful or disgusting or fucked up the song is because of a few lyrics?
Seriously?
Really?

I'm kind of shocked. For one, these people seem to be taking a SONG far too seriously. For another, I don't think anyone really bothered with the description, which I'm sure is a pretty standard occurance.
"This song entails the troubles and vindication Derpy faces every day. In an alienated rage, after losing her friends and being taunted by everyone who adored her, she decides to say that this is the last straw. She crosses everyone who wronged her off of the checklist. Yamino, being one of them, who took credit for having her voice actor and name changed, and ever dared to take credit for emailing Tabitha inspiring the drama!
And so it begins. Derpy's judgement is passing, and now you will know exactly What Went Wrong."
To me, this is pretty straightforward. Cats is doing this song from Derpy's POV, after she has snapped from being ridiculed and swept away because of how she is. In real life, normal people snap from the same kind of treatment. I know this rather intimately and very very well.
This doesn't mean I believe it to be right to threaten someone, most definetly not. But I can appreciate this song as it is because it is well done and I am not listening solely to the words spoken. I'm listening to the message, which is what everyone should do.
How many people loved Eminem's songs when he was almost constantly talking about threatening people and hurting them? He still became one of the most well known rap artists of our time, did he not? I don't see why a person listening to music cannot simply appreciate it for being music. If there is an issue, research it. Luckily for us, you can simply message Cats and ask for the story behind the song if you are having any issues.
Honestly, I believe the only criticism that should be given is in constructive form. You know, pointing out where the lyrics don't rhyme or flow or the instrumental is off or wrong or can be tweaked in such and such way.
I've probably gone in circles here or backtracked or whatever, but this is a damned rant because it's nearing 2am, I have work all day and I'm fucking tired. I just needed to get it out. Because I can see both points of view, but I can also see where this is one of the best of Cats' songs that I have heard so far. And I say that because of the musical parts, not because of the contents of the lyrics, no matter what people may decide to think of me.
Whelp, I'm out. I'm going to put this everywhere (yay for me -__-) and then I am going to sleep until my dozen alarms go off and repeat todays formula.
