Sisters of Sword & Song is a story of mythology, of sisterhood and family, of magical relics and of mages. One of my favorite things about @beccajross 's writing are the worlds she builds. Just like in The Queen’s Rising, Sisters comes with a map of the land and its entire own mythology system of Nine Divines and earthly relics they left behind on Earth. She writes such a lush and realistic world I don’t often see in YA books. This world mimics ancient Greece, but it’s so much more than that. Sisters of Sword & Song is fast paced, not wasting a single second. Needless to say, I adored this story. Q: What is your favorite standalone fantasy book? I need more standalones in my life. I know a lot of people enjoy series, but I've been in a mood for one and done standalone books lately. I don't have time to always reread and series are a real commitment - so I like standalone or even duologies. I appreciate when an author can put everything they need to in one book. Don't get me wrong, I love series too (have you met me and my obsession with the Shadowhunter world? Hi.) but every now and then its nice to change it up. I ordered this signed & personalized copy from @gcreading and I'm so happy to have a personalized & signed copy of one of Rebecca's books now! One day I'll meet her in person and come with a stack of books/arcs of hers to sign, but for now, I'm going to cherish this. I love that this preorder also came with one of the myth cards - I received Acantha's Crown! Its a neat preorder incentive. I actually listened to this story as an #audiobook and loved that this story is told in both sisters perspectives, and thus the audiobook has two distinct narrators, one for each sister! They each had a very different tone of voice which helped me differentiate between the sisters when listening. Sometimes narrators sound similar but I was glad these did not. I would recommend this as an audiobook if that is your thing.
