Pokemon Card of the Day #2494: Brooklet Hill (Guardians Rising)

Brooklet Hill brought yet another Stadium to the long list available, this time helping Water- and Fighting-type decks. When in play, and once during each player’s turn, that player could search their deck for a Basic Water-type or Basic Fighting-type Pokemon to put on their Bench. Whether such a card would see much play, of course, depended on what was good at the time.

It was mentioned recently that decks requiring a lot of Water Energy had a few competitive moments, but weren’t all that close to the top of the game at the time. Brooklet Hill just cared about the types involved, not the Energy. This let a player search out that Froakie for a Greninja deck, Alolan Vulpix to go with Alolan Ninetales-GX, Volcanion-EX for Fire decks, or even a niche support option’s Basic by finding Staryu or Remoraid. And then there was Fighting, which was one of the best types to use in 2018′s BKT-On format. Buzzwole, Buzzwole-GX, Zygarde-GX, Rockruff, Regirock-EX... If you had it, you could even pick up a Sudowoodo to block Bench space. There were a ton of useful Pokemon to pick up with this, and Brooklet Hill made it into a lot of decks due to how useful getting an extra Basic Pokemon each turn was. It was going to be one of your Stadium options if running Pokemon of the type most of the time.

Water and grass trials done! Bugsy annihilated Lana’s water types, Giggles and Fizz wiped out Mallow’s grass types. All around uneventful and quick ✨

I re-watched “Big Sky, Small Fry!” specifically to get these gorgeous establishing shots of Akala Island and Brooklet Hill.  Seriously, I love Sun and Moon’s animation style so much.  Well, I love it in general, but the artwork is definitely up there as one of the reasons.
