Brussels painter and graffiti artist Eyes-B says he's been drawing as long as he can remember. Painting for more than a decade and Eyes-B draws inspiration from "digital arts, design, and the macro use of organic elements" His evolving freestyle approach to art has increasingly unleashed improvisation and spontaneity and more recently he says he's been focusing on his abstract painting, putting the alphabet aside and letting music drive his work. Now dubbed "the conductor" by some Eyes-B says his painting reflects every aspects of the music he's listening to: "rhythm, silence, repitition, break, dynamism...." This late 2018 work was composed on Rue Marché aux Poulets in Brussels, Belgium.  @eyes_b_tsunamigraffiti/

"MONSIEUR JEAN"

Despite its small size, Belgium claims perhaps the richest history of comic book art and in 1991 the city of Brussels created an urban Comic Book Route in association with the @ComicsArtMuseum and now boasts more than 60 murals across the city. This addition at Rue du Midi and Rue des Bogards was created in 2002 by the well known duo responsible for Monsieur Jean. Born near the French port of Le Havre Philippe Dupuy made his comic book debut in 1980. Iraqi-born Charles Berberian attended art school in Paris and developed a graphic style influenced by Ralph Steadman. The two met in 1983 and six years later developed Monsieur Jean—the 30-something Parisian single looking for ideas for a novel and sharing his daily life and romantic disappointments. When working together Dupuy and Berberian collaborate on every aspect of their comics reportedly making it impossible to distinguish between the writing, layout, and drawing of each.  @charlberberian/

"CE SEA N'EST PAS UNE PIPE"

Belgian artist Klaas Van der Linden started painting graffiti in the late '90s at age 12, eventually earning a Masters degree in graphic arts in Ghent in 2014. Equally comfortable painting on canvas or on walls, Vander der Linden's small paintings of people and objects around him often become the basis for his mural work. In 2016 he painted a small maritime self portrait, and sure enough, a month later that work was transformed into this mural in Brussels. Painted on Rue Montagne du Parc the work was one of a series by 40 portrait artists participating in the "Interfaces" project sponsored by the Urbana team—a group dedicated to representation in Brussels by the the most diverse possible set of disciplines and aesthetics.  @klaasvanderlinden/  @urbana_project/

RAINBOW HOUSE: BRUSSELS

Providing a safe haven in Brussels for LGBTQI people @RainbowHouseBrussels is also involved in a wide variety of training, education, and pride programs. As part of the city's 2014 Pride festival Rainbow House partnered with concert venue, Ancienne Belgique, to create a series of portrait profiles in Lollepotstraat. Those original Fotini Tikkou wheatpaste graphics have more recently been updated with 11 painted panels addressing concerns about gender stereotyping and homophobic reactions. Originally from Greece where she studied fine art in Athens, Tikkou now lives with her partner in Copenhagen working as an illustrator and producing handmade ceramics.  @fotinitikkouillustration/  @abconcerts/
