While even a multitude of enemies can be dispatched fairly quickly in Spider-Man (2018), the game intelligently makes these short encounters feel thrilling and focused by taking so much out of the player’s hands during the actual fight. Many actions the player can perform, ranging from long-range takedowns, grabbing throwable objects, and even switching targets, are all at least somewhat performed automatically, with only extremely incorrect actions leading to no result. The game always makes the effort to allow the player to carry out their next desired action, only stopping them when A) the action is poorly chosen for the situation, or B) the action is being interrupted.
