Spotted: Heatwave, Darlings, someone forgot to tell Manhattan's finest that "Heatwave" was a dress code, not a warning label. The temperature climbed, the champagne got warmer faster than anyone wanted to admit, and you all showed up anyway — sweating through silk, praying your foundation would hold, desperate for my approval like it's ever once been unconditional.
Some of you understood the assignment. Some of you appear to have Googled "summer party" thirty seconds before walking out the door. Let's discuss.
BRYCE QUINLAN — A strapless sequined midi in a black-and-silver geometric print, thigh slit, oversized black cardigan draped off one shoulder like she couldn't decide if she was going to a rooftop or robbing a bank. Bryce, the dress is doing real work — that print catches light like it's trying to blind the paparazzi on purpose — but that cardigan is a hostage situation. Nobody asked it to be there. It's July. Let the sequins breathe. Still, the hair, the smolder, the general aura of I could ruin your life and still make it to brunch — that's not nothing. Rating: 7.5/10 @brycexquinlan
NATE ARCHIBALD — White polo, collar artfully undone, khaki utility trousers, leaning on a railing like the concept of "trying" personally offended him. Nate, I've seen this outfit on every man in a twelve-block radius of a rooftop bar since 2019. The cargo pockets are giving "I might need to fix a boat later" and nothing else. You're effortless because you put in zero effort. There's a difference, sweetheart, and it's called a stylist. Rating: 5/10 @natexarchibald
HANNAH WELLS — A blush tulle gown with silver floral embroidery, delicate straps, layered necklaces, matching heels. Hannah showed up to a summer party dressed for an award she wasn't nominated for. It's stunning — genuinely, breathtakingly stunning — but it's also a full evening gown at what I'm fairly certain was an outdoor day-into-night event. Gorgeous and slightly, deliciously oblivious. Rating: 8/10 @xxbabywellsxx
FEYRE ARCHERON — A navy corseted gown drenched in sheer blue floral appliqué, thigh slit for days, standing against brick like she owns the building and everyone in it. Feyre understood the assignment and then set it on fire for fun. The sheer panels, the bustier structure, the sheer audacity of looking that unbothered — this is what "Heatwave" was supposed to mean. High Lady behavior, truly. Rating: 9.5/10 @xxfeyredarlingxx
MARY BOWDER — Neon yellow fit-and-flare mini, cap sleeves, zebra-print ankle-strap heels, hair scraped into a ponytail so tight it could double as a facelift. Mary, I respect a woman who commits to a color that could stop traffic on the FDR. The dress is a touch juvenile, the shoes are fighting the dress for attention and winning by a hair, but the confidence is doing eighty percent of the heavy lifting here. Rating: 6.5/10 @marryy-bowderxoxo
AUDREY HOPE — A floral puff-sleeve mini with a sweetheart neckline, paired with — brace yourselves — white sneakers. Audrey, darling, I understand "casual chic" is a phrase people use, but sneakers with a party dress reads less like a fashion choice and more like you left your real shoes in someone else's apartment. The dress itself is genuinely lovely — soft, romantic, sun-kissed. The sneakers are a hostage note. Rating: 5.5/10 @audreyxhope
JOHN LOGAN — Sage linen button-down, sleeves rolled, chain necklace, that curly hair looking like it's never once been told no. Denim on the bottom, effortless smirk on top. It's simple, it's warm-weather appropriate, it's the kind of outfit that requires zero thought and gets full credit anyway because the face attached to it is doing overtime. Rating: 7/10 @thejohnlogan
JOHN B — A knit polo with navy trim, dark trousers, standing beachside looking like the last ad campaign for a cologne nobody can afford. Clean, coastal, quietly expensive-looking without trying. John, this is the rare occasion where "I woke up like this" actually tracks. Rating: 8/10 @johnxbooker
GRACE IVERS — A metallic brocade strapless bustier top, sleek black trousers, pointed heels, a clutch small enough to be purely decorative. Grace showed up looking like she's about to close a merger and then go dancing immediately after. The color pop of the bustier against all that black is the kind of restraint most of you could learn from. Sharp, controlled, faintly terrifying. Rating: 8.5/10 @gracexivers
CRESSIDA WYNTER — A champagne satin corset romper, gold chain belt cinched at the waist, strappy gold heels, skyline glittering behind her like it knew to show up too. Cressida, this is a masterclass in knowing exactly what your body is doing and dressing to make sure everyone else knows it too. The gold accents tie together in a way that feels intentional rather than accidental — a rare quality in this crowd. Rating: 9/10 @cressidawynter
HANNA MARIN — A shimmering pink halter crop top with a cutout, wrap mini skirt to match, lace-up silver heels. Hanna, the two-piece is cute, the color is fun, but the amount of skin on display combined with the slightly-too-matchy silver accessories is giving "tried a little too hard to win a competition nobody was running." Points for confidence, deductions for subtlety, of which there was none. Rating: 6/10 @hannaomarin
There you have it. A few of you sweated through the heat with grace. A few of you sweated through it with a very expensive dry cleaning bill in your future. Rest assured, I'll be watching for the next one — I always am.
You know you love me.
XOXO, Gossip Girl
