I feel like Bravely Second totally missed the opportunity to make Magnolia and Janne act as narrative foils to one other. Both victims of tragedy, witnesses to mass slaughter, the last or one of the last of their people. Both seek revenge. One a childhood friend, the other possibly a future spouse. One looks toward the future, the other seeks to change the past. Past vs Future! Hope vs Denial! It's all there I swear I'm not delusional!
