MAMA Japan 2018 Theory
overall: it is the time of the year for the MAMA to occur and this time, bangtan is attending both the Japan and Hong Long leagues!!! so i guess it means double the hints????

theory: so, as from watching the VCR of the fake love, everyone would know these are little hints for the upcoming era of bangtan, not sure if it is the next one or the future ones to come.
so a day before the MAMA Japan, Jungkook tweeted this photo of Woody, the cowboy and protagonist in Toy Story
the whole idea of Toy Story was that the toys are actually awake/alive when the owners are away etc.
moving on, so before bangtan’s performance, they have the VCR and i can promise you it is much like a collab between the fake love mv and the wings trailer for their concert.
the reason why i say this is because of the similar shots as well.

Taehyung’s one would be similar to that in singularity and also to the one in his fake love mma performance.
more focused around his eyes etc, interesting with the smoke, kinda reminds me of bst, specifically Namjoon’s room inside.
remember also, Namjoon and Taehyung had some sort of connection in the LY HYYH the Notes, V version.
Taehyung 22 May YEAR 22
I passed by a pine tree forest as Hyung picked up a phone call and started to lag behind. Nowadays, there were more times like this. He moved far away so that he could pick up the call where others couldn’t eavesdrop. I deliberately slowed down ad hid myself off towards the ocean. Hyung wouldn’t be able to see me when he passed by. “He’s only one year younger than me. No, I don’t really care. Anyway, I’m not going to be the one taking the responsibility, just do whatever is best.”
Something cold slithered down my spine. It felt as if everything in the world crumbled and crashed with a bang. It felt as if I was floating alone in the deep ocean. It was scary and frightening. I was miserable and insignificant. I was angry. I couldn’t contain my anger. I wanted to cause a scene. I wanted to smash something, to hit something, to wreck myself. I was always afraid. That my father’s blood would run in me. I thought that maybe his violence was what I inherited. It seemed that something was stabbing my tight defenses.
hoseok
hoseok’s one was interesting because actually of the fact, i think it was the most detailed one out of all?
his mask was the one that had the longest time out of all.
the picture above is the final one, but later on, the vcr shows the full making of hoseok’s mask.
i must say, this is amazing really.

to a clown face, ironically not smiling as what clowns are known to be.
also the fact that he was abandoned at an amusement park, where usually clowns could be seen working at, coupled with the fake love scene of his, and all the amusement rides props in this ‘room.
it moved on to a face where Hoseok is crying yet if you noticed his mouth area, it stretched out wide, possibly similar to the make up of a clown and also of a mime and possibly a jester.
a jester is commonly known to be a fool in Medieval times, but i did some research and found this.
To dream of a mime represents an aspect of yourself that is adept at impressing others with only the feeling of something being real. Awareness of yourself making elaborate projections of realness to keep others happy.
Positively, a mime may reflect making others feel good when there is nothing to show for it. Comforting others with stories or by using the imagination.
Negatively, a mime may reflect boasting or discussed expectations that have gone too far. Noticing yourself lying all the time to avoid embarrassment. Feeling good lying when there is nothing to show for it.
To dream of being chased by a mime may reflect your fear of noticed as faker or that you will “suck” to someone who has expectations from you. Doing everything you can to avoid looking like a loser who tells lies to keep people liking you. Your fear of embarrassment of never being a real winner or living out your discussed potential.

i have a feeling this looks a bit like the skeletal combined with the muscular system of the head/skull.
an abstract kind of thing, but somehow it just reminds me a bit of the Attack on Titan ( one of the bigger ones )
it moved on to a face where Hoseok is crying yet if you noticed his mouth area, it is of a puppet, a marionette.
reminds us of their E concept photo, in which they are controlled and restrained, and of the MMA intro performance.
not sure if those are dried tears, or possibly never ending tears.
then it moves on to something more sinister with the reds over his eyes and outlining that tear stained tracks.
a bit, it reminds me of a jester.

They act like children. Their principle question is "Why?"

much like Hoseok, they act like children, in a way i feel as though he might be reliving his childhood since he was robbed of it ever since he was abandoned.
out of nowhere, the scene changed, and we see a mess of colours on his face, much like the paint stains from his short film: MAMA, the same colour scheme.
again, that tear stained face, but it is just like Taehyung in Singularity. ( read my Taehyung and Hoseok pairing theory here )
jimin
Jimin’s mask is interesting, in a way one is more opaque/translucent than the other, possibly because of his short film: lie, one being more real than the other.
but also, the warm colour of yellow reminds me of his intro: serendipity.
but you’ll realised it would be in full form, as if someone covered his eyes, just like the opening scene of the BST teaser and BST MV. and who covered his eyes? none other than Yoongi. and you would see later that Jimin’s mask and his sort of merged to be a transition for Yoongi.

Yoongi’s one was interesting. his one was interesting in a way it felt more restrained and sinister?
the idea of the crosses on the eyes usually for cartoons signifies that they are dead, or knockout if you will.
but the fact that his mouth was sewn, shows as though he was a doll.
it reminds me a bit like Coraline, the girl who went through this door to find a world in which they were all sewn.
namjoon
Namjoon’s one is the most clear cut one out of all in my opinion. they look like mirror shards, just like his short film: Reflection, broken mirror pieces etc, but also Yoongi had them in Run JP. version.
i think based on the HYYH: the Notes, V version, there was some form of connection between them both as well.
Namjoon 11 April YEAR 22
I was looking for a t-shirt for a while until Taehyung reached for a t-shirt behind me. It was a shirt that had the same printed letters as the one that I was wearing right now. With an awkward laugh, he removed the ripped shirt. In the faint illumination of the lights that hung from the trailer ceiling, I momentarily caught a glimpse of his bruised back. Hoseok looked at me with a shocked expression. Taehyung put on my shirt and looked at his reflection in the dirty mirror. Then he laughed.
“This punk. He arrived late after getting caught by the police for doing graffiti.” I pretended to hit Taehyung and he pretended to be sorry. Yoongi Hyung who had been sitting at the corner of the trailer, slowly approached Taehyung and smacked his shoulder.
jungkook
Jungkook’s one is one of the hardest ones, in a way, his mask was formed just as such, it was shown as how it was, there was no process to how it formed.
seokjin
Seokjin’s mask reminds me of the Phantom of the Opera, which i would have mentioned about it in this theory.
the fact that half of his face is covered while the other is revealed to the world. this is the epitome of his dilemma of ‘who am i’.
also, looking back, interesting that you notice that the masks for each of the members are different, in a way it suits them all?
now, the vcr also had a bit of lines being shown in it.
“Who am I?”
“I dont know me. Who are you?”
this reminds me a bit of MMA theory all over again, the overlaps between singularity, fake love and truth untold.
“I make beautiful lies for you.”
“For you, I pretend to be strong.”
“Let all my weaknesses be concerned.”
“Im so sick of this fake love.”
literally, these are the lyrics of Fake love, of different parts throughout the song.
yet, the VCR of the intro of anpanman is sort of an extension of the intro of the fake love VCR.
it had the same masks of each of the boys.
i think jungkook’s one is the most interesting because it just reminds me of the Smeraldo flower, not just in its patterns but also of the colour.
again, Hoseok’s one is the one changing the most out of all.

however, the only difference between anpanman and fake love intro vcr, is that anpanman’s one is not just about the lyrics but it’s about themselves.
“Take off the mask and face yourself”
ironically, face yourself was bangtan’s Japan album in which Let Go and Don’t Leave Me were some of the tracks inside.
after this scene, it finally seemed as though the boys have taken their masks.
Jimin’s scene is familiar to that in fake love.
then this iconic line of anpanman
“I can be your hero” in Yoongi’s rap.
the whole use of smoke for Taehyung.
Namjoon’s masks slowly disappearing.
Hoseok’s masks disappearing bit by bit, with he tear stained being the last one to disappear.
Then, the boys after removing the masks, also removed the hood.
Jungkook’s one was the most interesting because after his mask of the Smeraldo flower disappears, it becomes into butterflies. ( remember that throughout the HYYH series, the butterfly becomes very significant. )
then, you would see that the boys eventually removed their cloaks as well, to find themselves in pure white clothes, clothes that signify purity and innocence.
yet again, we have the door closing in o us, iconic just like bangtan’s new logo.
These next scenes came up.

and their stage for anpanman being a rocket ship and hence Namjoon in the astronaut get up.
from the vcr, you have the same scene of the keyhole and jungkook. just like the fake love mv and the mma vcr.

now, this makes me question why?
so i went to search a bit and this is what i found.
Keyhole.

interesting that throughout the fake love mv, jungkook is literally peering into keyholes, peering at each of the boys’ rooms, and based on this interpretation, he is carrying a lot of problems.
remember, Jungkook cares a lot for the boys, his hyungs, his family.
also, the cloaked people are back at it again and that includes bangtan in the vcr of the intro of anpnaman.
so, i went to look at meanings of dreaming of dolls. the reason why I'm looking into dreams is because it has been aligned to my previous theories and also of the constant hashtags of the boys’ concept photos in HYYH pt. 2, #inDream

so here, it’s clear that it goes back to childhood, and if you have been following my theories so far or the HYYH timeline in general, you would notice that the boys have had terrible childhoods, some haunting them even until now such as Jimin and Hoseok in which you could tell from the HYYH the Notes, O version.
Jimin 6 April YEAR 11
I stood alone at the flower arboretum. Though the weather was bit cold, I felt great. My mother and father were busy on picnic day. At first, I was a disappointed. But at the flower drawing contest, I was praised by my friend’s mother who said “Wow, Jimin is so mature.” From then on, I started to feel that I was cool.
“Jimin-ah, wait here. Teacher will come soon. When the picnic day ended, my teacher asked me this but I didn’t wait. I walked with confidence alone. With both hands, I held onto the straps of my backpack and walked with dignity. It seemed as though others were looking at me, and so I spread my shoulders wider. Rain began to pour then. My friends and their mothers left, no one was looking for me and my legs began to hurt. I covered my head with the backpack and crouched underneath a tree. The rain began to pour even more, yet no one was passing by. Eventually, I started to run in the rain. I couldn’t see any houses or stores. In the end, I ended up at the back gate of the flower arboretum. The side door was open and I could see a storage room of some sort through it.
“If – somehow – the doll is associated with negative feelings in the dream, the meaning could be altogether different. Many people will have negative dreams about dolls… even nightmares… when they have negative events in their daily life. but, i went to look at other sites for meanings

all in all, these interpretations are quite probable as well. especially the fact that with dolls, it is possible that you are coming o terms with something that happened in youth, basically all of the boys.
this is more for Hoseok and Yoongi in a way, his was the only one that came about with a distinct doll features whereas Yoongi was a sewn doll.
Hoseok being abandoned when young and having a sickness.
Yoongi perhaps may have caused his mother’s death by accident with the fire which led to his father being more abusive towards him as seen in HYYH: the Notes, O version.
Yoongi 19 September YEAR 16
The fire burned crimson red. The house that I had been living since this morning was engulfed in flames. The people I knew were running and screaming. The people in the neighbourhood walked with quick steps. I couldn’t hear the entrance of the fire truck into the road. I just stopped and stood there dumbfounded.
It was the end of summer. Autumn was about to start. The sky was blue and the air was dry. I couldn’t even think, feel or do. Yet, I could only reflect back to “ah, Mom”. The next moment, the house collapsed with a loud sound. It was engulfed in flames – no, the house that became the flames, the roof, the piallrs and even my room crumbled like a house of sand. I stood there watching it dumbfoundedly.
Someone pushed past me. I could hear the fire truck. Another person grabbed me and asked me what happened. He even looked me in the eyes while asking yet I couldn’t hear anything.
“Who is inside?” I looked at the person confused. “Is your mom inside?” The person shook my shoulders. I didn’t know what to answer. “No, there isn’t anyone inside.”
“What do you mean?”, the neighbourhood old lady said. “Your mother? Where did she go?” “There isn’t anyone.” Even I didn’t know what I was saying. Someone pushed past me again.
interesting that this site had more meanings regarding for example puppets, and voodoo dolls.
“Voodoo is a doll belonging to a manipulator. Someone in the environment very much wants to influence your thoughts and actions. Take a closer look at your friends: perhaps there is a person among them who uses you for their own purposes. His friendship is self-serving and destructive for your life and dreams.

anyway, looking at Hoseok’s mask, he simply reminds me of a marionette.
marionette = a puppet worked by strings, a person who is easily manipulated or controlled

so, it pretty much talks about manipulation here. the question is who is manipulating the boys? it’s clear that Seokjin was being manipulated by the principal which could be found in the HYYH: the Notes, Y version.
Taehyung 20 March YEAR 20
I slid down the hallway, my feet making noisy sounds. Stopping, I stood there. I could see Namjoon Hyung outside ‘Our Classroom’. Our classroom. Without realizing, I started calling that place our classroom. Me, our Hyungs and Jungkook’s, the classroom meant for the 7 of us. I caught my breath and approached him. I wanted to surprise him.
“Principal!” I barely took 5 steps before I heard an urgent voice through the open window of our classroom. It was Seokjin Hyung. I stopped walking. It seemed as though Seokjin Hyung and the principal was talking? In our classroom? Why? I could also make out that Yoongi Hyung’s name and my name was said with a surprised Namjoon Hyung. I knew it was Seokjin Hyung from the scene and in a flash, the door opened. In Seokjin Hyung’s hand, I could see the phone. It was obvious that his face was surprised and flustered. I couldn’t see Namjoon Hyung’s facial expression. I hid and watched. Seokjin Hyung opened his mouth, as if to make an excuse, however Namjooon Hyung lifted his hand and spoke. “It’s alright.” Seokjin Hyung looked confused. “Hyung must had a reason then.” After he spoke, Namjoon Hyung walked passed Seokjin Hyung and entered the classroom. I couldn’t believe it. Seokjin Hyung told the principal about Yoongi Hyung and me had been up to for the past few days. He told him about us skipping classes, climbing over the wall and getting into fights with other kids. Yet, Namjoon Hyung said it was all okay.
but now, i moved on to finding out what the meaning of clowns are in dreams, although i find them really creepy and scary.

Hoseok 23 July YEAR 10
When I counted to three, I could hear laughter like a hallucination. In the next moment, I saw the young me passed by while holding someone’s hands. I looked back quickly to only see my classmates staring at me. “Hoseok-ah”. The teacher called my name. Only then did I realize where I was. It was a class field trip. I was counting the fruits drawn in the textbook. Five, six. I continued to count but then my voice trembled and my hands grew sweaty. That memory kept on resurfacing.
On that day, I couldn’t remember clearly my mother’s face. I only remembered the chocolate bar she gave me as wandered around the amusement park. “Hoseok-ah, from now on, close your eyes and count to 10.” After counting, I opened my eyes to see that my mother wasn’t there anymore. I waited and waited yet she never returned. I counted up till 9. If I counted one more, it would be fine but my voice couldn’t come out. My ears were ringing and my surroundings became hazy. The teacher kept pointing, telling me to keep on counting. I couldn’t remember my mother’s face. It seemed that if I counted one more, my mother would never come back for me.
Just like that, I collapsed to the ground.
the line of ‘others build their happiness on you instead, but i would assume that Hoseok thinks otherwise of the boys.
anyway, i would assume that Hoseok has a phobia of clowns because of the fact that he was abandoned in an amusement park, hence triggering his past.
overall, i think this vcr is interesting, the idea of masks coming into play, and the question of identities, what is your true yourself? can you face yourself? can you speak yourself?
