this is actually what a friend of mine does at my school but with drama club :3c he hangs around the drama club, helps move stuff with crew, hasn't joined. he was an honorary member for so long before he caved and joined because crew is full of ADHD twigs.

P - "Lucero, why do you never join band? You're here for almost every meeting, you've played instruments before."
L - "Band's for losers."
P - "Then why do you keep coming back?"
L - "Because some of you are cool. Like you and Theresa."
P - "Theresa isn't in band, you know that."
L - "It's closely related! And it'd be creepy if I went to all of her practices when I don't even talk with anyone on the baton team."
P - "So you glare at her when band and baton has practice together. Not creepy at all."
L - "Exactly! Not creepy."
