Pairing: Bucky x female reader (Y/N) established relationship
Summary: You have a nightmare while Bucky is away on a mission and he comes home just in time to comfort you.
A/N: Thank you so much for sending this request! I absolutely love it. I hope you enjoy it 💚
The second the jet lands, Bucky picks up his gear and stands at the rear door waiting impatiently for the ramp to lower. As soon as it begins moving, he waves to Steve and Natasha over his shoulder without turning to check if they are following him. "I'll do my part of the paperwork in the morning," Bucky tells his teammates.
"Sure, that works," Steve responds, his attention focused on the checklist in his hand. "Night Buck," he adds a moment later but by the time he looks up, his friend has disappeared into the Tower.
"I guess he's in a bit of a rush to see Y/N again," Natasha laughs lightly as she switches off the last computer system in the jet.
Bucky shifts his bag to his other shoulder and presses the button for the elevator, hoping it will come quickly. Once the button lights up, he looks down to check his phone, hiding a yawn behind his metal hand. It's just a little after three in the morning, almost two hours later than he originally told you they'd be home.
As usual, your boyfriend had texted you when the mission officially ended and the jet took off to bring him home.
------------------------------------------------
Y/N: Yay! ❤️ Can't wait to see you!
Bucky: I'm excited to see you too, beautiful. It's going to be late though, we're still about five hours away. It's okay if you fall asleep before I get back
Y/N: I won't, I just started a new book 😊
Bucky: Ahh, I see. You're not waiting up to see your amazing boyfriend, you just want to finish your new book
Y/N: Lol you figured me out 😆
Bucky: That's how well I know you. I'll see you in a few hours doll, I'm going to try and take a nap
Y/N: Can't wait! Enjoy your nap 🥱 have a safe flight ❤️
Bucky smiles at your last text then closes his eyes, folding his arms across his chest and resting his cheek on his shoulder. He breaths slowly, thinking about the plans you made for next weekend to help him relax. With a wide yawn, he stretches then slips off to sleep a few minutes later.
An hour into the flight, Bucky's jolted awake and nearly thrown from his seat in the rear of the jet by heavy turbulence. He opens his eyes, suddenly wide awake to the sound of thunder surrounding the jet. The super soldier looks towards Natasha and Steve who are focused on flying through the driving rain.
After discussing the unexpected weather with his teammates, Bucky returns to his seat in the rear of the jet. The three of them agreed the storm was too large and violent to fly directly through and follow the original flight path. The decision was made to fly around the storm, adding at least an hour but possibly more to the trip home.
Bucky sighs deeply, looking at his phone unsure of what to do as the sky lights up from a large streak of lightening. If he tells you about the storm and how much longer it will take to get back, you'll stay awake worrying about him. If he doesn't tell you and he doesn't come home when he was supposed to, you'll worry something happened. The last thing he wants to do is cause you any more stress so he decides to close his phone and hope you're asleep when he gets home. Maybe you won't even notice how late he is.
Bucky opens the door to your shared apartment quietly, not wanting to wake you if you had fallen asleep on the couch like you had several times in the past. The living room is dark expect for a small bit of light that shines from under the bedroom door. He knows the light doesn't mean you're still awake, you've fallen asleep with it on while reading plenty of times.
He takes off his jacket then kicks off his shoes and places his bag down by the door. Bucky walks silently through the living room without turning any of the lights on and heads straight for your bedroom.
As he gets closer he smiles to himself, remembering when he came home from a mission a few weeks ago and you were fast asleep. Bucky will never forget how absolutely adorable you looked curled up in the large bed, hugging his pillow tightly and wearing his favorite shirt. After a few moments of watching you from the doorway, he slipped carefully under the covers and pulled you into his arms. You sighed deeply when you felt his arms around you and he kissed your cheek and neck softly until you smiled and mumbled his name in your sleep. When you opened your eyes, you had the most beautiful smile and told him your dream came true.
Bucky reaches your bedroom door and listens for a moment to see if your still up reading. Instead of hearing a soft giggle or pages turning, he hears you groan and say something he can't quite make out. He pushes the door open, his eyes quickly adjusting to how bright the room is.
The lamp on your side of the bed is still on and a book lays open on the bed but it falls to the floor when you roll over quickly and yank on the sheets. It takes Bucky a moment to realize you're not trying to get comfortable, you're having a nightmare.
You squeeze your eyes closed tightly and breath heavily as your nightmare intensifies. "Bucky... come home," you mumble, kicking at the sheet as you scream those words in your dream.
Bucky sits on the edge of the bed and tries to reach for you but you roll over once again, your legs now tangled in the sheet from trying to kick it away. He gently grabs ahold of the sheet and frees your legs so you don't make it worse, "Y/N, wake up." You don't respond to him or notice when he climbs onto the bed next to you.
"Please... come back..." you beg in your sleep as several tears land on Bucky's pillow. You turn your head and groan again in your sleep.
He moves closer to you, wrapping his arms around your waist and talking gently to you. "Wake up, baby you're having a nightmare," he tells you as he pulls you onto his chest and rubs your back.
You open your eyes suddenly, gasping as the images from your nightmare repeat in your mind. "Bucky..." you breath out his name and try to catch your breath.
Your body tenses at the sudden contact and he loosens his hold of you but doesn't let go completely. He can feel your shakey breathing and rapid heartbeat as your chest rests on his. He kisses the top of your head lightly and rubs your back again. "Y/N, open your eyes for me. You're having a bad dream, you need to wake up," he says a little louder to break through your deep sleep.
"You're okay doll, I'm here," he says, his arms hold you to his chest, letting you know he's really with you.
"You didn't come home," you tell him as your eyes fill with tears. You press your cheek against his chest and hug him back tightly.
He rubs your back in slow circles and kisses the top of your head several times. "I'm so sorry, we hit some rough weather and I didn't want to worry you," Bucky says, his heart breaking when he realizes he is the cause of your nightmare.
You look up at him, "Bucky, I always worry about you. I'm always afraid you're not going to come home."
He wipes away a tear that rolls slowly down your cheek then kisses your cheek lightly. You give him a small smile and he says, "I'm sorry I didn't text you. I know I should have but I'm always going to come home."
"You promise?" you ask, biting your lip nervously.
His fingers move under your chin and he tilts your head up so he can kiss your lips like he haa wanted to since he left you days ago. You kiss him back deeply, closing your eyes as his hand slides down your lower back. When he finally breaks the kiss, he smiles, "I promise Y/N. I may be late sometimes, but I will always come home to you, always."
You smile and place a quick kiss to his lips then rest your head on his shoulder. "You better, cause I really like you," you giggle and wait for his response.
"You really like me?" he repeats and you nod without lifting your head, smiling wider. "Well that's awkward cause I love you," he says.
"So awkward," you agree then jump as Bucky suddenly begins to tickle you. You giggle and squirm in his arms, trying to get away.
"Tell me you love me," he says with a smirk as he continues to tickle you.
You shake your head no but there's no escaping him. Bucky waits for you to lift your head so he can kiss your cheeks and nose, his fingers still tickling your body. "I... love... you," you manage to force those three words out between laughs and he smiles down at you, his hands now resting calmly on your back.
"That's better," he kisses your lips then reaches over and turns off the light. "Goodnight doll," you can hear the smile in his voice as he pulls the sheet back up around you both.
"Goodnight Bucky," you answer with a yawn as you curl up against him. You kiss his cheek and close your eyes, feeling more comfortable and relaxed than you have in days. His metal fingers run gently up and down your arm as you drift off to sleep.

I need to read a Bucky fic where the reader is feeling self conscious and insecure and he worships her and makes her feel good but also takes it slow.
And like everything he does is gentle and soft and sweet but he's also like in charge.
And I also need to know Bucky is ok with a girl who cries all the time... Like she looks at him and cries. Or she thinks he'll be mad at her so she cries. And he's nice, so crying. You get it.
And he must be beefy. That is a need.
This has nothing to do with me btw. I just like to read... I'm not crying.
This is based off reality lol but my partner has adhd so sometimes they forget to text me/contact me and it sends me into a shame spiral because my mom used to ignore me for days when I was a kid whenever she felt upset about anything (I mean she still cries it but I am an adult now so I’ve learned to live with it) but anyway it really traumatized me because now when people g hours without responding I immediately assume it was my fault and I dive into fix it mode (even if I did nothing wrong). So idk maybe you could do something where Bucky forgets to text reader about something and reader immediately panics and freaks out because ✨trauma✨
babe, I got you. thank you for the ask, I totally know what you mean. I have many friends who forget to answer my texts and you can't help but think they are mad at you, I fully understand. I hope this does what you are feeling justice.
A/N: there are a few time jumps, I hope it's not too confusing!
So many years ago…
“Mom!” you screamed from outside her door, sitting on your knees while tears streaked down your face.
She had hit the new record for how many days gone without speaking to you; three was the new record. You had forgotten what you had done but your mother definitely did not, she was an elephant with her memory.
You were invisible to her, she walked right past you with nothing to say. There was seemingly nothing you could do except wait it out, but you needed your mother, you wanted her comfort. As hard as you banged against her door, as loud as you screamed, as hard as you cried; she did nothing.
It was always the worst when you accepted defeat and headed off to your room, contemplating how you would punish yourself because obviously you had done something very wrong. There were times when you’d punch your own thigh, maybe scratch along your collar where the skin was thin, anything to continue the punishment.
There had been times when she’d catch the bruises on your legs, immediately giving up the act to get you the bag of frozen peas. Everytime you thought it was over, you really thought she’d continuously love you. But then you’d forget to unpack the dishwasher or say something under your breath after an argument; and the cycle would repeat.
Present Day...
“Bye, love,” you whispered and leaned up to kiss Bucky, wrapping your arms around his neck as he placed his gentle hands on your hips. His roommates were in the next room so you needed to be quick and quiet, no one needed to know about your kissing.
“Text me when you get back to your place, yes?” Bucky muttered before leaning down and pressing a kiss to your collarbone, softly pulling the collar of your shirt with it, pressing a loving kiss to the mark that was blooming.
You grew coy, “of course,” you whispered as you fiddled with the hem of his shirt, “bye,” you said at the last moment with your head still poking in the door. Bucky stood there and waved, when the door closed you headed down to your car and headed home.
There was something about Bucky that was unlike any of the other guys you got close with, there was something so pure about him; even though he wasn’t all the time. On your first date he got you flowers and the next date you got him a bouquet. All the boys in the house laughed but after putting them in a vase and getting into his car you saw a tear roll down his cheek, just one before he swiped it away.
He has one of the flowers pressed and in a frame sitting on his bedside table.
There was an immediate uplift in your life after meeting Bucky, something to look forward to every morning with his texts and always feeling secure. You knew he was your guy, you no longer needed to suss out your mother before calling her to rant. Sometimes she was in a bad mood and would hang up on you, or even worse, sigh loudly until you got the hint. But if Bucky didn’t have time for a phone call he’d stop by on his way home from work or class, just checking in and then either picking you up or stealing a quick kiss before heading home.
You looked after one another because both of you wanted to see each other happy, there was never a moment of malice between you two, just uplifting spirits.
That wasn’t to say you were always perfect, there had been big fights and big emotions. But with Bucky, he sat down and talked about them, maybe after taking a walk so he wouldn’t scream in anger, but there would always be a drive to fix things and not let them linger.
It took many relationships and friendships to realize your mother did a number on you, what you thought was normal raised a few brows; especially Bucky.
“Babe,” Bucky said in his bed, sitting up against the headboard, “that’s fine,” he patted your butt. You were laying on your stomach and trying not to look at him.
“But you…” you sighed, “we were-...” you sighed again.
Bucky leaned over so you had to look at him, “I was in the mood last night- both of us were -and we had fun, even though I’m fine with something doesn’t mean you have to be as well.” it didn’t look like you believed him, Bucky chuckled and laid right behind you, “I don’t know what it’s like to be a woman and have period sex, babe, I don’t,” you cracked a smile, “just because I offer to lay down a towel doesn’t mean you have to agree, alright?”
“But I feel bad,” you whispered, “but I also don’t like how messy it gets and I was tired because my iron level drops so bad and-”
“And there’s our answer,” Bucky giggled, “remember: we both have to agree, don’t just follow along, alright?”
“Sure,” you whispered. Bucky obviously didn’t think that was good enough, so he tickled you until you were screaming in agreement, the most enthusiastic alright.
When you got home you trudged up the stairs and laid on your bed, sending Bucky a text that you got home.
You: got home perfectly fine, I did in fact almost hit a bunny but it ran out of the way
Bucky: seriously, you gotta be more alert
You: I know I was paying attention but it just came out of nowhere
Fixing your pillow, you sat up and stared at your phone. The typing bubble hadn’t even popped up yet, you needed him to know you were driving safe. With the extra time now you re-read his text, you immediately read it like he was chastising you. Giving you pointers because he felt you were a bad driver.
You wanted him to answer, so he knew you knew you needed to be safe. As you sat there the gears in your brain began to spin, you shouldn’t be this tied to your phone, it’s unhealthy. Don’t be a clingy girlfriend, he’s not actually mad at you.
You began to type again: babe? But you quickly deleted it.
You sat for a moment: did I do something? That was too pathetic.
Maybe a different angle: I bet that bunny is off with its family right now, having the time of its life. But even that was a little much, you could easily come across as rude.
Instead you placed your phone to the side and tried to think back, was there something you did that pissed him off? Maybe he was just annoyed with something else and took it out on you. You could barely sit with yourself, this needed to get fixed. You couldn’t leave him mad at you for too long, he’d leave you.
The thing about your mother was, she would never abandon her kid. But with Bucky, you’re just some girlfriend, easily disposable.
*****
Bucky smiled down at his phone, looking at the text you sent him. “Gotta love her,” he whispered to himself as he sat on the couch, before he could begin to type Sam poked his head in the backyard.
“Hey, need you to help with the barbeque,” Sam waved him outside.
Bucky threw his phone beside him on the couch, “who’s grilling tonight?”
“You,” Sam smirked, “you always do them so well."
Steve was already out there, there was something wrong with the propane tank. All three of them used google and youtube to figure out why the tank wasn’t fitting in the BBQ, they had the same tank as last time but something wasn’t connecting.
“There isn’t even a hiss when you start it up,” Bucky said as he fiddled with the switch, “that’s so weird, man,” Bucky scratched the side of his head.
“I’m so fucking hungry,” Sam muttered to himself, “if we don’t get this figured out soon, I’m fucking ordering in again and I don’t care how much it costs.”
“We’ll figure it out,” Steve nodded as he crouched down to try and come up with a solution.
Though it took a while, they managed to hook up the new tank all by themselves. Bucky now stood by the grill, one hand on the bar on the lid, and watched the timer hit zero. The smell was amazing when he opened the top, feeling the hot steam escape after building up. Steve and Sam were inside, cutting up tomatoes and other toppings to put on their burgers.
“Hey, bud,” Sam called from the screen door, “your girl is blowing up your phone.”
Bucky turned around, “pass it over,” he flipped the last patty and walked over. Immediately, his heart sank as he saw the spammed texts and calls that were coming from you. The most recent text covered the others on his lock screen: I don’t know what I did but I’m sorry I made you upset.
“What?” he whispered to himself, clicking on the notification to see the others in their text chain.
You: Babe?
You: the bunny is okay and so am I
You: are you mad?
You: I know you think this is so pathetic but the text you sent sounded like you were mad and I want things to be okay if your mad but also I’m freaking out over nothing because you probably aren’t
You: right?
You: please pick up the phone
You: Bucky I’m losing my fucking mind, please don’t shut me out if you’re upset, please
You: please
You: okay
You: I don’t know what I did but I’m sorry I made you upset.
Before Bucky could do anything, he was frozen as he stared at the typing bubble that popped up. When the text came through his heart cracked to pieces, it felt like he was dying.
You: I’ve been bad and I deserve it
“Boys!” Bucky called from outside, Sam and Steve both ran out. “Something wrong with y/n, I need to go to her house, I’m sorry, someone’s gotta watch this right now.”
“What’s wrong?” Steve had never seen Bucky more stressed out in his life, watching as he basically tugged his hair out.
“She’s-” Bucky held out his phone, “look at this.”
Sam was the one to take the phone, “dude,” he looked up at Bucky, “you sounded mad at the last text you sent, the ‘seriously’ doesn’t help and then-”
“Holy shit,” Bucky snatched the phone from Sam’s hands and ran to the door to get into the backyard from the side of the house, fishing for keys as he got to his truck.
You sat on the edge of your bed, Bucky beside you. “you-I don’t want you to meet my mom.”
“Why?” Bucky rubbed your back, you looked so sad as you sat beside him, rubbing your wrist raw with anxiety. “I’m sure she’s not as bad as you think.”
“No,” you shook your head, “she just messed me up,” you looked up at Bucky who was shaking his head, silently saying you aren’t messed up. “She would ignore me for days on end, I wouldn’t know if I was getting fed or dropped off at school somedays, and I was like seven. I-” you choked on your words, leaning into Bucky’s side as he kissed the top of your head, “I just always assume people are always mad at me- especially if I get ignored because I’m so used to it.”
“That’s why you don’t want me to meet her?” Bucky whispered.
“She doesn’t deserve to meet you,” you mumbled while you looked at the floor, “she’s in the past and I don’t want my present and past to mix.”
Bucky nodded and planted a few more kisses on the top of your head, “I’ll always be here, I’ll always be in the present.”
No speed limit mattered in this moment, the university kids crossing the street were perfectly timed. It was like the universe knew Bucky needed to get somewhere, all the lights were green and no one got in his way. When he parked in the driveway to your off campus apartment complex he almost forgot to turn off the car, he was sprinting out of there.
He had a key to your place, you had a key to his.
“y/n?” he bursted through the door, not hearing a single sound. He found you in your room, sobbing under the covers, you didn’t even hear him come in. “baby,” he whispered and quickly hugged you from outside the covers, making you jolt away from him. “It’s just me, I’m not mad, I promise, come here.”
“You’re not?” you coughed out, looking over your shoulder at him.
“I was about to text you back and then Sam needed my help with the barbeque and I forgot about it so quickly, you know how I get with that.”
“I do,” you nodded.
“And I was in charge of the burgers so I was outside, away from my phone- jesus, I’m so sorry,” Bucky whispered and got under the covers, “it just slipped my mind, I didn’t mean to give you the silent treatment, I really didn’t.”
“Deep down I knew you were busy but then I just…” you sighed and looked away, “I fed into my thoughts, what I knew since I was a kid: getting ignored is-”
“I know,” Bucky kissed your temple, “don’t feel bad you went back to what you knew, anyone would do that, I’m just so sorry,” he held you tightly, kissing all around your head, “that text meant to be funny but it so wasn’t and I’m so sorry, but I’m not mad- all you need to know is that I’m not mad at all,” he felt you nod, “all one misunderstanding that really hurt you.”
“I forgive you,” you flipped around to face him, “I’m just so mad I let her win again, I thought I was over this.”
“I forgot to text you back for a long time,” Bucky brushed the hair out of your face, “you can only go so long and that’s normal, babe, totally normal.” You used his shirt to wipe the tears off of your face, “you don’t need to feel any shame or any embarrassment, alright?”
“But I do,” the tears came back again but Bucky was quick to soothe them. He held you close and continuously whispered in your ear sweet nothing, making you feel loved. After a while you believed him, he wasn’t mad at you, and you leaned into his touch.
“The only thing you deserve,” Bucky cupped your face to make you look at him, “is to be loved and listened to, alright?”
You nodded, a smile gracing your lips for the first time in what felt like days, “alright.”

The dishes clatter in the sink and you snap, tossing the sponge down into the soapy water. Nothing is going right today, it’s been one thing and then the next, no break from the endless shitstorm the world has been throwing your way.
“Hey– baby,” Bucky says, startling you. You jump at the sound of his voice and turn around, leaning against the sink. “What’s going on?” You sigh and turn back to the dishes.
“Where do I even start?” Bucky joins you at the sink, grabbing a dry towel and taking the clean dishes from you as you rinse them off.
“You want to vent or do you want advice?” You tilt your head, thinking.
“Vent,” you reply. Bucky smiles and nudges you with his elbow, signaling that he’s ready to listen.
You tell him about the shit day you’ve had, all the things that went wrong, all the ways the day didn’t go as planned. Bucky just listens, drying dishes and nodding along with your words.
It feels good to get it all off your chest, to finally unload the tension you’ve been holding. As you hand Bucky the last dish, you feel a bit better. The two of you move to the couch and Bucky tugs you onto his lap, rubbing your back.
“I’m sorry about your day, sweetheart,” he says into your hair. “Thank you for telling me about it.”
“Thank you for listening.” Bucky flips on the TV and scrolls until he finds your favorite show. You settle in, and feel the stress melt from your body.
Would you mind a fic where y/n (a big bookworm) wants to go to a book fair and wants to ask Bucky’s help for carring all the books so he finds her in the kitchen with a batch of his favourite cookies but the cookies are irrelevant because he has a big crush on her so he would do anything for her? (Obv she has a crush on him too 🤩)
I’m sorry it took so long to post, I hope you like it🤍
Hi- may I ask for an angsty mix with Bucky x girlfriend reader: She gets assaulted one evening walking home from work, being roughed up a bit, but nothing too serious. So instead of telling her boyfriend - who were away on a mission for another month, she just proceeds her life as usual. She had paperwork to do, did not want to sit at her office looking like the "beaten house wife" she did right now-even with makeup to cover the worst up! But Bucky comes home early and wants to surprise her ...
You missed Bucky, of course you did, who wouldn’t miss their boyfriend when they were away for months. Bucky was away on a month and a half long mission, and it still had a month left.
You two had met when the Avengers did a meet and greet thing for kids at the festival you were volunteering at. Bucky, Steve and Sam stopped by the baked goods fundraiser booth you were working at. Sam asked you for your number for Bucky, because he was too shy to ask. You gave him your number and a week later you had a date. Which turned into lots and lots of dates after that.
The day started out, not so great. You had to walk to work because your car broke down and there was no ride service around to pick you up, then you had to work through lunch because your boss gave you a last minute thing you needed to get done. You finally had something good happen when there were free cupcakes in the office, you were able to snag one, and your boss gave you extra money for working through lunch. Your boss was nice enough, she understood when Bucky came home, the next day would usually be taken off, sometimes even two days. She also let people work from home if there was nothing they needed to do in the office.
You got ready to walk home, and luckily it wasn’t raining, and it wasn’t too cold. You were over halfway home when a man from an alley way decided to be a prick, “hey pretty lady, why don’t you come suck my dick!” You tried to ignore him and just picked up your pace a little. “Hey, I’m talking to you bitch!” He grabbed your wrist harshly, that’ll definitely leave a mark, you thought. “Get away from me you’s asshole!” You twisted out of his grip but before you could run away he grabbed your hair. He slammed you up against a wall and started choking you, you took the opportunity to kick him as hard as you could in the nuts. You ran away when he doubled over, you ran as quickly as you could, making your way to a friend’s apartment that was closer to you than yours.
“Oh my god! Y/N! Are you alright? What happened? It couldn’t have been Bucky, he’s on a mission, right?” You tried to calm your friend down. “I’m alright, some asshole, who didn’t appreciate me not giving him head.” Your friend’s face turned to one of disgust, “gross, that guy is like worse than an asshole. I’ll grab an ice pack, you can stay here for the night and I’ll drive you home in the morning.” They went and got a few ice packs and listened while you told them the whole story. They asked if you were going to press charges, “well, I didn’t really see the guy, there were no cameras around, so there’s nothing I can really do.” You friend sighed, knowing you were right.
The next morning your friend dropped you off at your apartment on her way to work. You decided to go about your life as normal, you had paperwork to do after all. You tried to cover the bruises that had now formed with makeup but it just made them look even more suspicious. You looked like a beaten house wife, like someone who’s partner is abusive, and you didn’t want those stares of concern, and sympathy, nor the questions of ‘are you okay,’ and ‘do you need any help getting away from him?’ You figured you would work from home for a few days as you didn’t have any meetings that required you to be there in person. So you set up your workspace and got to work.
You did the same routine for a few days, you planned on doing it till the bruises went away. Your friend visited you twice so far, making sure you were alright. They were surprised when you told them you didn’t plan on telling Bucky, your reason being he would probably go berserk.
It was lunchtime of day 4, and you took a break and ordered some Chinese takeout, you were busy eating it while watching Netflix on your couch when your phone buzzed. It was Bucky! Hey doll, you working from home today? You typed back that you were and asked him why. Just wondering, Tony had stopped by your office for something with Stark industries and said you weren’t there. You smiled at your boyfriend’s concern, yeah I didn’t have any meetings so I figured I’d stay home and be comfortable. Little did you know, Bucky was actually on his way home to surprise you.
Doll can you check the door, I sent you a surprise package. Your phone buzzed with Bucky’s message about 30 minutes after you clocked out for work. Yeah sure babe, I’ll go look. You got up and walked to the door. “Bucky!!!” You exclaimed, excited, and very surprised. “Doll!” He went to hug you but stopped, “Doll, who hurt you,” his question was brief and his voice was lowered to a growl. He was definitely about to kill someone.
“Buck, calm down, it’s alright,” you tried to hug him but he very gently pushed you off. “No doll, someone hurt you and when I find out who, they will pay.” “Buck, I’m alright I promise, no need to hurt anyone.” He looked at you closer, “is that makeup covering some more! Doll, where are you hurt, and again, who did it!” He wasn’t yelling, it was still a feral growl of someone about to murder someone else, and you knew it wasn’t you, but still.
You rubbed off the makeup gently, and showed Bucky the bruises. He looked at you with the most sadness and anger in his eyes. “Doll,” he pulled you in for a hug, making sure to not touch any bruises. You sat Bucky down and told him what happened. “Did you just not plan on telling me?” He asked, not mad, more like a sad puppy. “Buck, I….” You looked down in shame, “I wasn’t,” You admitted, “it’s just, I knew you would want to hurt the man who did this and I didn’t want you to hurt anyone on my behalf.” He placed a hand on your knee, “doll, I wish you would’ve told me, but thank you for being honest with me eventually.”
He walked off to your shared room to take a few deep breaths, he didn’t want to yell at you. He was a little upset at you, for not telling him straight away, but he was more angry at the man who did it, and he wanted to make sure he didn’t take the anger out on you.
You sat on the couch, saddened that he left, but you knew he’d be back in a little. You got up and started on dinner for the both of you. “Doll, you shouldn’t be doing anything, you’re hurt,” he waltzed back in and pouted when you were trying to do things instead of rest. “Buck, I’ve been doing this for 3 days now, I’m fine.” Bucky wouldn’t allow it and came over, taking the spoon you were stirring with and using it himself. “Sit, please,” he motioned to the bar stool across from him, you obliged. “I’m sorry for walkin’ off earlier doll, just didn’t want to take out my anger for the guy on you.” You told him it was alright, and that you were proud of him for talking about his feelings rather than just letting them build up and eventually boil over.
“I still wanna hurt that dude, can I, please doll,” he was now pleading with you. “Buck, i don’t even know who it was,” you tried. You guys had finished dinner and were now cuddling in bed, Bucky paying extra attention to where you were hurt so he didn’t harm you more. “I’m a spy I can find out,” he claimed. “Mmmhmm” you gave him a kiss and fell asleep. Your boyfriend had to go back in a week so you were taking all the time with him you could.
The next day, while you were at work, Bucky got to his own work. Finding the guy who hurt you. He eventually found him and…payed him a visit. He came home and found you on your lunch break early. “Heyyyyy doll, whatcha doing at lunch early,” he said, trying to hide his bloody knuckles. “James….. show me the hand.” You were using his real name, you meant business, he held out his hand shamefully. “I’m sorry doll I-” he started to rant off an apology but you stopped him. “What am I gonna do with you, my knight in vibranium armor,” you laughed and kissed him, leading him into the bathroom to clean him up.

“C’mon! You’ve missed the last two morning training sessions,” Sam groaned, “you have to come to this one.”
Bucky just looked him over with a glare, bringing his coffee to his lips and downing a sip, shaking his head simply before turning back and checking his watch, heart picking up it’s pace a bit as the time you planned on approaching.
“Did I just hear you’re not coming again?” Steve slightly chuckled, “Let’s go Buck, get changed and we can do a couple miles to warm up before doing some sparring.”
“Okay, slow your roll there buddy, not all of us are super soldiers and I am not getting lapped by both of you.” Sam said, crossing his arms over his chest with a chuckle glancing at a distracted Bucky, “what’s up with you man? You seem-“
Sam stopped when he saw you emerge into the hallway, Bucky eyes brightening and a wide smile growing across face when he saw you, rushing over and pressing his body tight against yours. Sam, who was about to open his mouth for a smart comment bit his tongue when Steve look at him and shook his head softly, reading his friends mind to let his life long friend enjoy his moment, relishing in seeing him so happy.
“You look… wow doll…” Bucky blushed, hands running down your arms until they intertwined with your fingers, “You are so beautiful, I love this dress.”
“Thank you.” You blush, tucking a hair behind your ear and looking up at him with a wide smile.
You, of course, already knew how much he loved that dress, especially considering he was the one who bought it for you for an anniversary, having it laid on the bed as he told you to be ready when he picked you up for dinner, beginning a popular tradition of him spoiling you.
“You ready to go out for brunch, baby doll?” Bucky asked, “got both the bike and a car ready, whatever you wanna take- Oh! I almost forgot.”
Bucky stopped his rambling as he ran off around the corner, quickly emerging with a bouquet of peonies, clasped tightly between his right hand as he offers it to you with a bright smile, “saw these when I was out for a walk this morning, made me think of you.”
“Thank you, Buck, they’re beautiful.” You smile, taking them from him and leaning up, pressing a couple of kisses on his cheek before pulling back, “I’ll go run these to my and put them in a vase and then we can go?”
Bucky simply nods, kissing you quickly before you turn on your heel and head to your room, a blush covering both of your cheeks as you look over your shoulder, your eyes meeting as you both try and steal a glance at one another.
Sam’s light chuckles make Bucky turn out of his love struck gaze, causing him to look at his two friends with a slight glare, but the corners of his lips were twitching as he held back a smile, rolling his eyes as his friends smirk at him.
Sam quickly mimics the sound of a whip a times, miming the movement and pointing it at Bucky as he laughs loudly, throwing his head back after watching one of his best friend interact with his lover.
“Oh stop, Sam, he’s happy. Let him be.” Steve scolded before walking up to Bucky, placing a hand on his shoulder and smirking, “I’m really happy for you Buck, you found a great one.”
“The best one.” Bucky quickly corrects.
Sam snickers behind the two again, a serious look taking over both of their faces, Bucky famous glare causes Sam to put his hands up in surrender, “Sorry man, I’m happy for you too, it’s just funny to see you act like that when we always get you like this.”
Bucky opens his mouth, a sarcastic remark prepared but when he hears his best girl approaching, he quickly turns and mets you at your side quickly, grabbing your face and pressing a kiss of on your lips.
“Hi.” You laugh, taking a shy glance over at the two boys watching, Sam silencing mimicking the wipe again causing you to just shake your head with a laugh. As you look back up at Bucky, you’re met with his sparkling, blue eyes already looking at you, “ready to go bubba?”

Moonlight bathed the room in a silver glow. Concrete walls turned into the open abyss of the sea as the shadows of the night swam across the room. It was cold here, at the bottom of the sea. Cold and still. The ability to rip free of his cage had been stolen from Bucky by the poison that coursed through his veins.
It wouldn’t kill him, the serum took care of that, but it was certainly enough to steal every bit of energy he had.
Bucky couldn’t remember how he’d gotten to the concrete room he was now chained up in. He couldn’t remember who had attacked him. If you’d been there. If you’d been hurt.
For a man filled with sin, it was ironic how much Bucky prayed. He prayed that you were okay, that you were safe and sound at home.
-----
Glass littered the floor like shining diamonds. You told yourself that the scarlet blood that pooled over the tiles was just spilled wine.
As if you could fool yourself.
Bucky was gone. Taken from you. You hadn’t been here when it happened, but the glass and blood told you enough about what had gone on. You only watched the home security feed in order to see the faces of the men you’d be exacting your revenge on.
Because you would find Bucky. You would save him. You’d exact your revenge, and a little more.
The crunch of glass beneath heavy boots caught your attention. Turning around you found the rest of the Avengers behind you, their faces solemn.
“We’ll get him back.” Steve said, his chin high.
You nodded, “I know. I won’t stop until I get him back.” Looking back at the mix of blood and glass on the floor you bend down. Uncaring of the glass that pierced your skin and the blood that coated your knees you picked up the silver necklace that was hidden within the mess. Bucky’s dog tags.
Clutching the dog tags in your hand you stood and looked at your team. “I’m going to get ready. I’ll meet you in five.”
-----
Bucky wasn’t surprised by the emblem that was stitched onto the dark uniform of the man who came into his cage. One skull, six tentacles. Hydra. The sea monster.
The bastards always thought they were too good. Too powerful to be stopped. You cut off one head and two more shall take its place.
Guess they never realized that Hercules still took Hydra down. But maybe Bucky was just getting cocky now. Afterall, he was the one that was drugged and chained up. He’d wait to celebrate after you got here. Because you would. Even if you were injured. As much as Bucky wished for you to stay away from danger, he knew there would be nothing in all of space that would stop you from getting to him.
“Soldat, we finally have you back with us once more.”
“No, you don’t.” Bucky breathed out. Because he knew, the trigger words they’d programmed into him were gone now, thanks to you and Wakanda. You were with him every step of the way when they were helping him. When he was triggered into the soldier, you were there. When we woke from nightmares within his hut, not knowing where he was, who he was...you were there. And that final moment, when those awful words were said out loud and he sat crying by the fire from relief, you were there.
So no, the Soldat had not returned to Hydra.
“Oh, don’t be like that,” the man stepped closer to Bucky. His black hair was slicked back and he wore leather gloves that Bucky didn’t doubt were lined with steel. “We know about Wakanda. But make no mistake, we never give up. You’ll be our good little soldier soon enough.”
-----
You wanted to do this alone. The team didn’t.
You understand why. Bucky was a part of their team, their life and was a friend to all of them. But you knew if they came they’d see a new side of you. A dark part only your lover knew about and shared with you.
They’d seen you on missions plenty of times. They’d seen you murder. But they’d never witnessed the blood lust that came over you when one of your own was taken and hurt. They’d never seen your revenge.
“Tony and Nat are looking over all known Hydra bases to try and figure out where Buck’s at.”
You scoff as you check over all your weapons. “If Bucky knew Tony was putting this much effort into finding him and not killing him, he’d be shocked.”
Steve chuckled. “Yeah, I guess you’re right.” Coming up beside you Steve wrapped his arm around your shoulders. You could smell his natural, slight minty scent. You pushed yourself just a bit further into his embrace, seeking out his comfort. He’d always been like a brother to you.
“Steve,” you breathed. The blonde turned his head and looked down at you. “When we reach Bucky. Don’t judge me too harshly, yeah?”
Steve’s brows furrowed as curiosity lit up his blue eyes. “What do you mean?”
You looked away from the Captain and peered out the window. The sun was setting now. A golden glow set upon the land. Bucky had been gone all day at this point. “I mean that you’ll be seeing a new side to me.” You looked back up at Steve. “I can be quite cruel when the ones I love are taken and hurt.”
Steve’s lips made and O shaped and he nodded his head. “I get it.” He gave your shoulders a squeeze. “None of us would ever judge you for that. I think we can all understand.”
Hurried footsteps sounded from the hall before Natasha came around the corner and made eye contact with you and Steve. “Time to go. We found him.”
-----
They didn’t waste any time on trying to get the soldier back and Bucky quickly found out that the man’s gloves were lined in steel. Blood dripped steadily from Bucky’s nose, coating his face in crimson. Iron coated his tongue, a taste he was all too familiar with.
Drugged out of his mind and covered in blood, Bucky didn’t even realize he’d been moved to the chair that was once responsible for stripping away all of his memories. Panic surged through him. No, not again. He silently begged. He couldn’t go through this again. Bucky tried not to cry out as they put the mouth guard in him. The familiar feeling of it brought a whole new level of pain that he hadn’t expected and Bucky started to desperately pull at the mental clamps that held him down.
No, no, no, please God, no.
A bang sounded in the distance and the Hydra scientists and soldiers stopped for a moment. Curiosity written across their faces. They didn’t even have a moment to take a step towards the door before another bang sounded and the steel entrance was flying open.
Through the haze of darkness and drugs, standing in the broken doorway, Bucky saw her. Y/N.
Oh, Hydra was fucked. You didn’t take Y/N Y/L/N’s man and expect to get through the revenge that was headed your way. His woman was a silver tongued, steel spined warrior. You didn’t mess with her.
“Hey baby.” Y/N called from where she stood in the doorway.
Bucky smiled and gave a quiet hum. “Doll…” He mumbled around the mouthguard.
“Are you okay, baby?”
Bucky went to nod his head but all he managed was dropping his chin down to his chest. He gave another, louder hum so his girl knew he was alright.
“Alright, I’ll be with you in just two minutes.”
Bucky didn’t have time to hum out his acknowledgement before the sounds of a fight filled the air.
Fuck, he loved his girl.
—--
They already had Bucky strapped in that God forsaken chair. It took everything in Y/N to remain calm and in control, but as the fight began, she couldn’t do it any longer.
Blood quickly coated her clothes and slicked her hands. Red filled her vision as she took down Hydra member after Hydra member. She didn’t go for direct kills, she made wounds that would lead to slow, painful deaths. If her team didn’t like her method of revenge, well, she gave them plenty of warning.
It was both all too soon and not soon enough when the last Hydra member hit the ground, blood pooling onto the floor from the stab wound through his right eye.
From then it took Y/N only a second to be at Bucky’s side, undoing the clamps that held him down. “Baby, Bucky, are you okay?” Y/N questioned desperately, her eyes looking over every inch of him.
Bucky’s glassy, stormy blue eyes looked up at his girl and a slow smile spread across his face. “Yeah doll. You saved me. I’m okay.”
Y/N smiled as she leaned in and gave him a kiss. “Good. You ever do something like this again,” she whispered as she pulled away, “and I’ll fucking kill you.”
