Another Buckynat scene I need to happen:
It’s set as they are training, probably in Wakanda in a normal gym. They have just finished sparing and Natasha ended up on the floor.
“Why are you holding back?” Bucky asked, panting.
“I’m not,” she said accepting his hand.
“You’re lying.”
“Well I don’t want to hurt you.”
Bucky frowned, “Why not?”
Natasha looked puzzled, “Why would I want to do that?”
“I shot you!” He exclaimed, “twice.”
“That wasn’t you.”
“Yes, it was. I pulled the trigger. Not Hydra or Pierce, me… I nearly killed you on multiple occasions. Just hate me! At least it won’t feel like you’re faking it.”
Natasha moved to stand in front of him,“Listen to me. You cant hold that to yourself because it will eat you alive. You may not believe it but no one here blames you for what happened.”
“You should,” he said meeting her gaze.
“Targeting the victim, shifting the blame, isn’t something we do here. Dont think for one second im here because Rogers asked me to babysit you. I am here because I know what its like to be used. To be fed propaganda and think you’re doing the right thing. When I joined SHIELD I thought everyone hated me for what I had done. It took me a while to figure out they didn’t. I know it’s hard to believe but they don’t.
You can get a fresh start here. You’re not Bucky, at least not the one Steve remembers no matter how hard you try. You’re not the Winter Soldier, the cold blooded killer Hydra wanted you to be. You’ll figure out who you are and there are people who don’t have second agenda’ s, who want to help you. You are not the first. Yes, the memories will haunt you,” she pauses, breathing out slowly, “They wont go away. But living with the weight won’t either. You need to forgive yourself because we already have. And if you need us to tell you that everyday till you believe it yourself, we will. I. Will. Never. Hate. You. Because of what they made you do.”
Bucky looked down, blinking rapidly. Natasha’s arms raised slightly. Suddenly he engulfed her in a hug, their heads resting on each other’s shoulder’s. “I promise,” she whispered, burying her head into his neck.
