I went to go check on my mother's garden to see if the strawberries were ripe.

They werent, it's been a long cold spring this year.I went to look at the beans next, but what on earth was stuck in there?

I nearly jumped when the tiniest voice said, "Hello I'm Beans, what's your name?" I didn't know what else to say so I told him, "I'm called Lillium."

"That's a nice name", he replied. We sat there for a minute listening to the wind chimes.

"Could you please pick me up?"

I had no clue how to grab him, I tried to be as gentle as I could.

"Thanks, thats much better, I don't know how long I've been been in there." He looked at me for a minute with tiny beady eyes.

"Hold me closer I want to ask you something."

In the most serious voice he could muster,

"Do you like budders?"

"Huh?" I had no idea what he was talking about but he was waiting for an answer.

"Budders, you know!"

"I'm sorry I don't know what your asking me."

He shook his head,"The yellow stuff you eat on breads!"

"Oh you mean butter!"

He nodded furiously, "Yes budders! Do you like it?"

Trying not to laugh at the seriousness of this question I replied, " Of course I love budder it goes so well on many things."

Upon hearing that his face beamed.

"Hooray! This means Beans and Lillium are friends now!" He shook my finger with his hand and I assumed it was his form of a handshake.

I brought him inside and offered Beans a butter cookie. He wouldn't wait for me to set up a tiny place setting and ate it by the clean dishes. Promptly after he scurried off into the house and I cannot find him.
