In the Tibetan Buddhist tradition (which in turn, is a preserved and multiplied tradition of medieval India) it is believed that it is on this day-the 4th day of the 6th month - Buddha Shakyamuni (or, as historians call it and Budologists, historic Buddha) began to give the teachings. And on this day, rather, very early morning, he spoke about: - that our whole life consists of an endless series of dissatisfaction; - that the reason for such a matter is a holy faith in some "self" and the tireless care of it; - that dissatisfaction can be eliminated if you realize that there is really no "me" and never happened; - and that there is a method of how to achieve this understanding. I mean, otherwise, today is the birthday of Buddhism. So happy birthday everyone! When the Buddha is depicted as it is on this antique Tibetan icon tank, it means just the moment of giving the teachings. His hands are folded in a gesture that resembles a wheel. In fact, that's what this gesture is called - Dharma-chakra-pravartan-wise - a gesture-sign of turning the wheel of the teachings. The wheel is spinning, the cart goes, the teaching is given and practiced. And the wheel itself, about eight or a thousand spokes - one of the oldest Buddhist symbols. Just please DO NOT PUT THE WHEL OF BEING (often hear), which is sometimes called SANSANSAR WHEL - these are different and in fact opposite.
