oh! no pictures but I never told you one of my best bug stories ever, just from this past fall. I was walking at night and saw a small woodlouse hunter spider. then, not far away, a woodlouse (isopod) himself, although he looked like he might be too big for her. expertly, the spider looped around to intercept his path, and POUNCED-- the isopod paused-- but then she ran away in spider embarrassment, not even having managed to get her fangs through his armor. he went right back to trundling along.
