Back from my mad weekend at Bugged Out Weekender. Had the time of my life and I am now completely destroyed from this festival!
Bugged Out Weekender// Who’s Who
Carl Craig
Carl Craig is a legend of techno. One of the most important names in the second wave of Detroit techno, he built upon the framework laid down by Atkins, May and Saunderson to instrumentally move Techno forward. His pure passion for having his music and the music of his peers heard was a vital component in the evolution of techno from a small Detroit scene to a global worldwide movement. It will be an honour to see him perform at Bugged Out! Weekender.
Skream
Dubstep’s former wunderkind turned disco and house enthusiast, there is a lot that can be said about Skream’s sets, but the main theme is just how balls to the wall fun they are. Just as likely to play Arctic Monkeys as Prince, Skream is never one to shy away from letting things get a bit rowdy. When he played in Liverpool recently he went to the toilet in a saucepan, heavens knows what he’s going to do at Bugged Out!, but it certainly will be unmissable.
Green Velvet
Curtis Jones has produced and DJ’d under many different monikers over his illustrious career but none as popular or well known as Green Velvet. With a focus on more flamboyant music and taking inspiration from punk, it was as Green Velvet that Jones produced his finest music. La La Land was the perfect homage to the chemically enhanced crowd members, whilst bigger than prince referenced the confident nature of ravers, the latter recently being remixed by Hot Since ’82 into a modern house banger that is instantly recognisable in the mix.

Kolsch
With a myriad of different monikers and alias’s under his belt Kolsch has sold millions of records worldwide. With a fantastic album released in July of last year on Kompakt that blends dance music of all genres almost effortlessly the live set from this stalwart of the techno scene is surely one not to miss.
Andrew Weatherall
The Godfather. To list the things this man has done for dance music would require too much space. Being involved in music continually since the Madchester movement has led to this well respected DJ and Producer seeing and hearing (almost) it all. His varied sets are always outstandingly mixed and musically diverse in a way nearly no other DJ can match. He also has a fantastic beard. Catch him on the Friday of Bugged Out! Weekender
Claude VonStroke
DJ’s with a good sense of humour are often the best, and can sometimes be hard to find. One has to look no further at Bugged Out! though than Claude VonStroke. Owner and operator of Dirtybird recordings, which has seen releases from the likes of Breach and Eats Everything, his sets are focussed on getting down with your bad self. Chinstrokers need not apply.

Bugged Out Weekender// Who's Who
Bugged Out Weekender is coming to Southport on the 7th-9th of March, bringing with it the very best in electronic music for a weekend of hedonistic beat bliss. In Honor of this LSRadio thought we’d give you even more reasons to get up there by running through some of our favorite acts playing the weekend.
Dusky
Duo Dusky (London based Nick Harriman and Alfie Granger-Howell), have quickly become one of the major names dominating the UK House and Techno scene. The deep bassline groove to their music, with undertones of Garage and D&B, along with their knack for remixing, has created an exciting sound, perfect for the dance floor. If the past few Abandon Silence shows Dusky played are anything to go by, they are sure to be an act worth seeing. Jacques Greene
The mysterious Jacques Greene has been on the electronic scene for years bringing with him a clever blend of house, garage and R&B, the epitome of this sound being '(Baby I Don't Know) What You Want,' which cleverly samples Ashanti's 'Foolish'. His pioneering sound and reputation of unforgettable live shows makes Jacques Greene a highlight for this years Bugged Out. DJ EZ
UK Garage veteran, DJ EZ, hits the decks once more at this year's Bugged Out Weekender. Considered by most to be 'The Best' to come from the UKG scene, EZ's energetic performances, packed with surprise, thanks to his talent of mixing old classics into exciting new rhythms, has secured his continued popularity over the years. Never one to disappoint, this is not an act to be missed. If in doubt, give EZ's Boiler Room from last year a listen.

Monki
A DJ who does what she wants by delivering intense, jaw dropping sets that leave the crowd anticipating more. Monki. A prime example of UK talent, the London born and bred underground tastemaker has firmly planted her roots into a regular slot on Radio one and has her own digital label, Zoo music. Monki is continuously championing innovative and original sounds, guaranteeing her listeners box-fresh bass.
Jackmaster
Co-founder of record label numbers and a prodigy behind the decks, Jackmaster- a jack of all trades- has influenced the UK underground music scene for over a decade. What most would describe as a staple within the electronic spectrum, Jackmaster connects disparate styles together and hypes a crowd simply through his ingenious creations. Known for throwing curve balls in his sets and defying trends, expect the unexpected with Jackmaster.
Todd Terje
Todd Terje, dubbed ‘king of summer jams’ by mixmag creates bouncy house and disco vibes with his adventurously, playful beats. The Norwegian producer instantaneously allows dancefloor mentalists to feel those good music vibrations, the infamous ‘Inspector Norse’ is all the proof you need of this.

Ben Pearce;
Having being launched to a position of underground as well as mainstream notoriety via his 2013 single ‘What I Might Do,’ Ben Pearce has managed to garner an ever growing reputation for his fresh take on deep house. Easy on the ear but relentless in its urge to force moves from the most lead-footed listener, Ben manages to inject the energy of a live set, acquired while cutting his teeth as a DJ in Manchester, into well crafted, well written tracks. With so much expectation and promise already resting on this young man’s back, you can’t help but wait in anticipation to see what Ben Pierce does next, and his Friday slot is set to be one of the weekend’s highlights.
Daniel Avery;
Peckham-based producer Daniel Avery burst onto the scene in a flurry of techno and house last year with his debut LP, Drone Logic. Having perfected his trade as a resident DJ at London’s Fabric, Avery’s crisp, throbbing beats and immersive tunes caught the ear of critics and fans alike, making him a jewel in the crown of 2013. With the ability to both craft expansive, engaging tracks as well as put on a stimulating DJ set, you would be wise to keep very close tabs on this exciting young talent, with his Friday set the perfect time to witness Avery’s musical prowess first-hand.
Boddika;
With influences noted as ranging from Prince to Detroit Techno and a love of using machines not found in most studios, it’s fair to say Boddika is unique in the world of electronic music. His trademark dark, profound beats are both gritty in their delivery, as well as unwilling to resign themselves to any specific genre. In a world of increasingly polished and mastered music being released, Boddika’s raw approach is something to be admired, and secures his position as one of today’s most exciting musical ventures. Performing as the final act on the Sunday, this is not an opportunity you will want to miss.

Seth Troxler
Seth Troxler is the man Resident Advisor named 1st and 2nd best DJ in the word two years running. Not satisfied with conquering the world of dance music, Troxler goes on to co manage a restaurant in East London, Smoky Tails, where smokey meat is on the menu. But here is a chef who likes to have his cake and eat it too, as over at his DJ Collective cum label, Visonquest, Troxler's hand is tangible at every turn. Seth Troxler is also notable for his many collaboration (see his 2009 number 'Hurt' with Matthew Dear) and remixes of various other artists work including Nicholas Jarr's "The Student", which takes the listener through an indulgent seven and a half minutes progressively away from the brilliant and slow "Aphrika" that was Troxlers' A side to Jarr's song.
Krysko
Krysko, when searched into YouTube, always gives unusual Russian recommendations. I got halfway through some vampire nun nonsense before realising that it was very much not what I wanted to listen to. I ventured further to find this pearl from the man himself "To truly establish yourself as a respected resident you need to build deep knowledge of these 3 elements; the music you play, the pioneers of this music and the people who you play to week-in, week-out." Coming from an artist that introduces himself as a regionally famous DJ, that's quite good stuff. Krysko is a resident at The Warehouse Project, previously at Sankeys as well as the Redlight and Tribal seasons. His knack for being everywhere at once does Krysko a service and his reputation for putting on a solid performance stand him in good stead. This needs more views.
Dollop
Dollop has dried in the winter air like wet paint and their influential drops linger heavy on the scene since they grew out of Nottingham back in '09, moving slow and steady towards London Town. Their long awaited NYE party at London's own Troxy highlighted the talent Dollop have to offer with their outreached fingertips; Ben UFO, Loefah and Oneman to name three. Dollop sold out at NYE, and at their most recent gig, and at the showcase event they held with the huge names on the house scene Bicep and Objekt. Their residents are grizzled and fresh in equal measure, and the muscle the boys at Dollop can muster when lifting heavy is a testament to their established dominance.
