Part 2 of courting Fang

I tried to give him SO MANG GIFTS before I realized he was going to be much harder to woo than Qi.

I should be sleeping but to celebrate the fact that I finally had my Builder chase Fang around with the Heart Knot (there was a whole mission, it was very informative and I quite enjoyed it, and the amount of dialogue choices) I’ve decided to do a ship meme template with them.

To clarify some things: according to the Chinese version of the game, Fang’s full name is  Fáng Shí-miǎo, and Fang is his surname. Also since he’s listed as an adult but looks youthful, I decided to narrow his age down to mid-late 20s.

And I put him down as Demi because boy’s got trust AND self-esteem issues.

I added the eye-shines to make them both look more alive.

Clean Sweep

Fang might not be willing to take Mort up on his cup of tea, but Serena definitely is.  Things are learned, and a decision made.

Set immediately after the Clean Slate side mission.

Stepping into Mort's shack was a blessed relief from the relentless Sandrock sun.  Serena was grateful for the reprieve it offered as Mort set the kettle on.  Part of her wanted to object to hot tea on an already hot day, but most of her wanted to give Mort this time to share with someone.  Even before Zeke asked her to, Serena had taken to stopping by with fresh tea leaves whenever she had a harvest, and staying for a while to chat and play a few rounds of critters.  Ever since Serena had returned the first picture she found and saw how Mort's eyes lit up while talking about it, she'd made a concerted effort to befriend the man. 

The routine was a practiced one; Mort making the tea, Serena setting up their game.  Mort had shown her how he made tea, but Serena also knew making tea for guests was one of his small joys.  She let him make her cup, although always insisted on cleaning up after.  Once the tea was poured and they'd settled into their game, Serena asked,

"So how long has Fang lived here?"  

Mort chuckled, "When you get to be my age, the years all start to blur together.  I think it's been two years at least though," Mort stroked his beard, "It was before the incident with Logan's pa, I know that much for sure."

Serena nodded, staring at her cards.  Mort trounced her easily, thoughts of what and who Fang had buried in the cemetery plaguing her.  It must be his mother, Serena couldn't think of anyone else.  She highly doubted it was his father, based on the photo she'd seen in his room.  It wasn't like Serena had set out to snoop or anything.  One day when she'd gone over to the clinic to pick up some medicine, Fang wasn't there.  So she'd poked her head into his room to see if he was there, and just so happened to see the picture.  

Mort didn't comment on her distraction, he seemed to know everything he'd told her was a lot to take in at once.  They finished their game, and Serena cleaned up.  She bid Mort farewell, promising to stop by again soon.  As she walked by the clinic on her way home, it seemed to loom larger than life.  Serena considered it with a shrewd look, then turned to look back at the graveyard again.  With a nod, she made a decision and headed home.  

The next Saturday, after finishing the commerce guild inspections, Serena walked over to the graveyard.  Her backpack was carefully packed with dusters, cleaning rags, tea leaves, and a carrot.  X greeted her as she opened the grave yard gates.  Fang turned to look when he did, and paused in his sweeping when he noticed who it was. 

Serena gave him a small wave.  Fang blinked, then went back to his sweeping.  Serena shook her head and sat down her backpack, pulling X's carrot out.  He swooped over and plucked it out of her hands before alighting on one of the gravestones to enjoy his snack.  Grabbing her feather duster, Serena set to work on one of the headstones.

Mort was right; Fang was kind and thoughtful. He also seemed like he needed a friend.  Serena had no idea how she would pull that off, but spending an hour  or so of her weekend cleaning the graveyard with him seemed like a start.

I haven't posted in a minnit, largely because I started playing My Time at Sandrock and have about 400 hours in it now....

So I thought I'd at least put that to work and do some silly videos about my time courting Fang
