Hoje no meu país é um dia de alegria. No dia 1 de março, na Bulgária celebramos uma tradição que se chama Baba Marta e está relacionada com a chegada da primavera. A martenitsa é uma especie de decoração em vermelho e branco. A tradicional consiste de duas bonecas pequenas - o Pizho - o menino, é branco, e a Penda, a menina que é vermelha. Podemos fixa-las na roupa, usar como pulseiras - feitas de lá branca e vermelha.

Hoje, mesmo longe de casa e em confinamento, eu celebro Baba Marta com a minha filha. E temos martenitsas que maravilhosamente chegaram hoje da Búlgaria. Obrigada, mãe e obrigada CTT que recebi a encomenda no dia certo.

Merry Lughnasadh, friends, or if you’re in the southern hemisphere, probably Imbolc! The name Lughnasadh derives from the name of the god Lug, with násad meaning “gathering,” and it is a celebration of the first harvest of the year. Since we’re home-bound, for the most part, some activities you could do to mark this sabbath are baking, decorating your altar with seasonal flowers and fruits, or making a corn dolly. 🌽 There is also, you guessed it, a Bulgarian holiday of the same concept known as Makavèy, Morìnki or Ègus. In some parts of the country, people are warned not to spin wool today so that their fingers do not hurt (which would, symbolically, mean that pain awaits them for the rest of their year). In others, you ought not do laundry or bathe small children on this day. Others, yet, see this time of the year as a celebration of fire and of wolves. 🐺 Regardless of what and how you celebrate, I hope you have an amazing time!
