Metamorphosis of a Berlin Bunker

I was in a bunker. That actually is no ordinary bunker...

1942: it was built as a bunker to protect the people during the war.

1945: they used it as a jail for prisoners of war.

1949: it was used as a textile warehouse.

1957: they kept exported fruits from Cuba there, and called it the "Banana Bunker".

1992: it became a techno club known around the world.

1994: used as a theater for the staging of "Lebenstoff" by Simon Donald.

1995: they had a giant erotic trade fair there.

1996: first art exhibitions.

2003: Christian Boros purchases it so he has a place to keep all his art.

And that is the collection that I saw with my friend. All of the art was fascinating and so many pieces played with all of the senses. There was a never-ending popcorn machine, a wax Mickey Mouse pointing to a book of Nietzsche, a man-made tree by Ai Weiwei, a symbolic clock with no hands, some awesome 90's photography and much much more. ...Only in Berlin
