Sydney’s Reaction to Maid with Perfection *There Be Spoilers*

My gods. For such a short game, it left me really and thoroughly impressed. The art style is just gorgeous, and I loved the voice chosen for the female protag. Honestly it’s a good title, even with its flaws. And believe me, there are some big ones. 

1. The majority of the game is just clicking one of three options -clean, train, and rest- for Karolyn to do. Once on what I believe is Wednesday or Thursday in the game, you get a picture of her doing one of these three things. It’s a nice reward, but at the same time it feels like the game tries to make itself more repetitive and unrewarding. Personally I wouldn’t mind if I could get a still every time.  You know, a la Midnight Cinderella from Cybird or the Shall We Date games? They aren’t usually special pictures, just the normal sprites. Still, would be nice. 

2. LENGTH. I said it before buuut meh. For something that clearly had effort and excitement put into it I was just expecting more. Still as an aspiring programer for a title of my own, I get it. Just one scene can feel like it takes forever. A whole game? It can feel like climbing Everest. 

3. The stereotypicalness of the player’s rival. I’m sorry, but it’s just so overdone. Like Gary from Pokémon in a grown woman’s body. Not saying stereotypical characters aren’t fun… They just need the right placement. Otherwise it comes off as kind of tacky. 

That’s about it for the critique part. Honestly Maid with Perfection is fun. I enjoyed Karolyn’s VA and her awkward personality. It was kind of like dealing with a younger girl who has a crush on you. Sort of brought back memories for me. I love it when fictional relationships can do that. Also Red’s personality change was just so unexpected at the end my jaw dropped!
