i feel like every time i post of her it's just the same angles of her in this jacket and hat but in my defense this sculpt is very photogenic and this outfit is really cool

nyc doll con 2026 post :)
i had a great time at nyc doll con this year! i was too distracted by con excitement to take as many pictures as i would have liked but i did manage to get a few!
i took the train into ny on saturday morning then headed to industry city. the first thing i did when i got there was get lost and stand in line for the wrong event. the second thing i did (after finding the right event) was pick up my astoria head from logan dolls! she's so cute and i'm so excited to work on her ;v; there was also a giant claudia!
after that i walked around for a bit and looked at vendors. there were a lot of really lovely dolls and displays there. it feels so magical to see so many little curated doll booths- like a miniature shopping mall ✨
i also got to hang out with people that i got to meet in person for the first time last year :) it was really nice to be able to see everyone + their dolls in person again this year!
i did bring two dolls this year: marie and yuki. here are the ladies with their doll-sized doll con badge and playbill haha
on saturday, i went to the japan shopping guide panel, which went over how to purchase doll stuff in japan and from japan using a proxy. it was primarily focused on in-person shopping in japan, which was interesting to learn about. i also played bjd bingo, and went to the gloomdoll joint sculpting panel, where james demonstrated how to sculpt neck, shoulder, and oval joints. it was really cool to watch her work, and her explanations allowed me to understand a lot more about how dolls are engineered, and the thinking that goes into jointing a doll.
on sunday i went to the tianba faceup panel where she went over how to add linework to faceups. it was incredibly helpful and i'm looking forward to trying out some new techniques soon >:) i also went to the logan dolls microdoll stringing workshop and got most of the way through stringing my new tiny lady. she is unbelievably tiny. i have her on my desk and every time i see her im still surprised by how tiny she is. i don't know if she'll have a character like my other dolls but i think im going to name her paillette (i'll have to see if it sticks)
i did Purchase™️ several things but there were also a crazy amount of goodies in the vip bags :o the left flat lay photo is of all of the things from the vip bag, and the right photo is of the items that i bought. it was kind of overwhelming to come home with this much stuff haha
after the con was over i had another day in brooklyn where i got to hang out with my cousin and go to some cool places and eat some good bread :D the cats living in the tree were so whimsical ;v;
since i've been back i've been having fun dressing everyone up in their ✨new clothes✨ i'm still going through everything and figuring out which dolls would like which props/accessories/clothing, and it's been nice to take my time to decompress and enjoy everything :)
