now the past seemed like a blur. their
childhood seemed to have passed by in minutes
rather than years; the months that passed after
leslie's death seemed to last only in hours. everything
was happening so fast; after months of believing that leslie was
gone forever, yet here the family is - in front of a
very large lion, being told their beloved leslie is alive,
in a realm known as narnia.
“ so, what you're saying is…
my cousin has been alive this entire time…”
it wasn't exactly a situation to question what
was happening; rowan should be thankful. yet, she couldn't
help herself from thinking this was nothing but
a dream. the sweetest dream she could ever imagine; leslie
being back, getting to wrap her arms around her again. but that
sweet dream would soon turn into a living nightmare -
waking up to the dreadful realization that leslie would never return.
it certainly didn't feel like she was dreaming, but how on
earth could this possibly be true? the dots were not connecting,
which resulted in a very uneasy feeling. it certainly didn't help that she
was standing in front of a great lion - a talking lion at that.
nothing would make her feel at ease until she got to
see leslie. to hold leslie in her arms. to be able to sleep in this
strange land, and wake again to find herself still there
and not back on earth. it certainly didn't help that she had not yet
come to terms with leslie's death, whereas most of the others have. on any
other day, rowan was the one filled with belief; never
questioning what was happening around her. this, though - this was entirely
different. when the great lion left her alone, to sit on the beach
and wait for leslie to show, she couldn't help but shed a few
tears. happy tears - and scared tears. it wasn't until she looked up from
the corner of her eye that she saw she wasn't alone anymore.
”les... is that really you?”
