Surprises happen. Erica getting into a college, surprise to her. Erica getting closer to Derek, surprise to her. Erica sleeping with Derek, slight surprise to her. So when she got pregnant, she should have been use to surprises. She wasn’t. She freaked out and thought Derek would leave, but once again she was surprised when he stayed. She was always thankful he did.
She dropped her classes. It was a lot for her, getting things ready, being sick all the time, added stress of her mother disapproving once again. It was to much so she stayed in an apartments next to the college. She relied on Derek and others to help, but not fully.
Her bundle of joy was a baby girl, Jessica Laura. She loved the girl so much. Despite the crying, pooping and general lack of sleep that Erica got. But the love wasn’t enough to fully cover the resentment Erica had toward Derek. She would watch him go to classes, and it started to build more and more resentment toward the man.
With a sigh, Erica looked around for Jessica’s diapers, finding that they were running low. She picked her phone up after changing her and putting the baby to sleep.
