Temperance leaving Icarus Hall to Nancy reminds me of Aunt March leaving her estate to Jo March (Little Women) SO that got me thinking and here's how I'd assigned their roles in an AU

Jo - Nancy Drew (Strong, fiesty, had a relationship with Nick at the beginning, wants an unconventional career (detective/writer))

Meg - Bess Marvin (Likes shiny things but can't afford them, gentle, loving, also I like the irony that she's the youngest in the show but Meg's the oldest sister)

Amy and Beth - George Fan (Relationship with Nick, Nancy went feral over her when she was dying, tries her best to please the Fan Sisters in the show. I have no idea how someone might merge Amy and Beth together in this AU because they have such conflicting personalities and storylines so let me know if you figure it out)

Laurie - Ned Nickerson (Rich boy next door, charming and clever, gets together with Amy/George)

Frederick Bhaer - Ace (Before any of you 'Jo is a lesbian' 'Jo is aro' 'Jo is ace' enthusiast come at me, it simply makes sense in this AU)

Marmee - Carson (This one speaks for itself)

Mr March - dunno. Go nuts

Hannah (the maid) - Ryan (the man who's never done a day of work in his life. Consider that it would be funny to see him try)

Mr Laurence - I have no idea. The only man eligible is Everett Hudson and that's not happening.

Mr Brooke - Addy Soctomah (she and Nick have a great brotp, she and Bess/Meg get together, she's very knowledgeable)

Aunt March - Temperance Hudson (leaving their estate to a niece that they're not really fond of, old, and obviously she's just hard on Nancy in this AU and not trying to destroy the town to free something underneath)

Aunt Carrol - Hannah Gruen (don't really have an explanation for this one)

Florence - Odette Lamar (I couldn't leave her out)

Fred Vaughn - errr Burt Eddleton from the books? (He and Ned are friends in the books so it works out too I guess)

The Hummels - The Fans (Without George as their breadwinner Victoria kinda screwed it up)

The original clue crew is why I’m a simp for two friend groups meeting and falling in love cause honestly it did it so well

Nancy and Ned: Interesting dynamic, saving each other and the day constantly, worked well together, could practically read each other’s minds,  will go through hell and back together with no hesitation, they’re humble but won’t hesitate to brag about each other, and casual mutual simping.

George and Burt: Competitive with each other, both challenging each other and others together, George is shy and a bit closed off about her feelings but Burt isn’t, April and Andy before April and Andy existed but April is also kind of a jock.

Bess and Dave: Extreme mutual simping and it’s great, very adorable, tall and small, Dave is Bess’ spaghetti noodle not because she likes food but because that is what his body looks like, the ones who would like to not die every five minutes, seriously they are the only ship that probably won’t stress you out in the entire universe.

Particular ships aside, they’re all friends. Like good friends. They’re not just together because they like another person in the group, obviously it started like that cause it had to start somewhere, but they’re all friends. I know that that’s a basic thing, but friend groups that entirely rely on one person are boring. They only rely on Nancy for mysteries, not for keeping them all together.

It’s a good dynamic.

In all seriousness, Burt returning to the series made my life as a 15 year old. No offense to my parents but, the Mystery Stories series raised me. There is literally no year I’ve been alive where Nancy Drew hasn’t been apart of it, my earliest memory is learning to read from these books. I was like 9 or 10 when I learned that Burt and Dave were erased from the series and subsequently forgotten or never known by many people in the fandom. It made me really sad.

The first time I played SEA, I did a double take after Ned says Burt in the first conversation Nancy has with him. At first I couldn’t believe that I would hear his name, like actually hear it. And then he spoke. I honestly squealed. I nearly cried. I still do every time I play. I love him. He’s been apart of my life from the very beginning and hearing his voice for the first time was amazing. I feel like it’s kind of a unique experience to hear the voice of someone who had such a great effect on your life for the first time. I don’t really know how to describe it. Even if it was some producer or whatever doing an extremely dude-bro kinda voice and kinda not really sounding like a 20 year old. Having Burt Eddleton in a game makes me really happy.
