Reading @schtroumpfalunettes Bad End AU posts, I was reminded of something I was thinking about the other day - ages ago I had this idea for a story (?) where a villain (it was originally gonna be an old oc but tbh I never developed her properly) fucks around with time and destroys some of the key aspects of the Smurfs lives, leading to a present day timeline that's totally messed up and somehow the characters have to set their individual timelines correctly again (think like, shrek 4 but no time limit /hj). Maybe some elements of king smurf too but like, x10 worse.

Anyway I started thinking about it again and now that I have Clockwork Handy as a character I think he'd make a much better villain for this kind of story since he's just fucked up like that. Like, he'd want to rearrange time so that he had access to Smurf village but he can't fight Handy one on one because they're evenly matched, so instead he finds Handy in a moment of weakness (lets say, No Smurf Is An Island cause talking about that on tumblr is what brought these thoughts back up) and gives Handy a magic spell allowing him to become a mersmurf to run away to Atlantica with Marina. Which sounds nice in the moment, except Handy is a very rash thinker and now without him being able to go on land, the village is basically unprotected from the wrath of CH who easily overthrows Papa and starts running a VERY messed up dystopian village. Maybe my oc Julian can come back to be his second in command cause Julian's an ass but I'd be able to recycle my original idea with him.

Anyway a small group of rebels working under CH (Clumsy, Brainy, Tailor, Farmer, Somebody, Dreamy and Chef) find out about the time machine and realise they're living in a reality not meant to exist. But they don't really know how they're going to fix it, since CH keeps the machine heavily guarded by the fairies and no one in the village knows anything about mechanics to begin with. Cue them suddenly remembering the real Handy and wondering why he disappeared suddenly so many years ago. Whilst he's collecting rocks for a new extension to CH's palace, Clumsy comes across a ghostly figure of an old fisherman Smurf, who's hood covers his face but clearly has the beard of Papa. The apparition tells him that he doesn't have much time to explain, but the rebels will need to somehow make their way to the kingdom of the merpeople if they want to restore the real timeline, and that an old friend will be waiting for them, before the ghostly figure disappears.

I haven’t really gotten any further than that but as a prompt for an AU ... well it’s on my mind a lot rn.

I hope III knows that what he’s doing for so many artists is genuinely so heartwarming. Especially after RCA was… being RCA.

I rarely post art myself. I don’t believe by any means that I’m good at what I do. But still, I’ve kept trying, and I’ve seen improvement, and no doubt I’ll see more as I keep drawing.

But years ago when I posted drawings (terrible. drawings.) and posted that fanart into discord servers, or on social media and I saw that the person I made it for has seen it and liked it? I was overjoyed, and it encouraged me to keep going. I’ve come a long way since then.

By liking, sharing and interacting with fanart III is not only giving those artists the exposure that they 1000% deserve but also inspiring those people to keep going, to continue what they do. I love seeing artists support and inspire other artists, including musicians supporting fan artists.

So III: THANK YOU. Thank you for sharing so much fanart from so many skilled artists in this community. I have no doubt it means a lot to them.
