I think you were right the video wasn't produced by Buzzfeed. Even the photography of it feels odd compared to what they usually do. They probably just posted it on their channel because it's a paid-for thing!
Answering these two together!
There’s no credits for this video and it does feels unlike any others we’ve seen on the Network and, even though I suspect the reason it’s not a case episode is in part for the kind of patnership, I think it was produced by either a buzzfeeder for another channel (like buzzfeed video, likely) or a producer outside the company for WB (who owns Doctor Sleep), which would explain the whole “they didn’t bring a crew” thing from the tour guide on instagram.
Like, it was crew and production from WB directly and not buzzfeed, though the partnership was sold. And also, I mentioned the ‘kind of paternship’ because this video, unlike the other sponsered ones that are ‘episodes of the show’ is like the five to six minutes ones at buzzfeed video for Batwoman and other shows we’ve seen in recent months.
My guess is that they may pay more for ‘cases episodes’ and a little less for the mini videos like the Batwoman one and now, this.
On the other hand, the hauntings at the Stanley Hotel are actually just rumors spread by the popularity of The Shining as a novel and movie even when it wasn’t filmed there. Since King said he based the Shining on his experiences in the room he stayed at while in the Stanley, the rest of the story and its hauntings in the book are mer fiction, but people immediatelly thought it real and so, the hotel simply started to get some money out of what could had been a not-so-good situation.
Which is why the whole haunted tour guide at morning and night, and the october events it organizes. So-- really, I don’t think the place is more haunted by ghosts than it is by the curiosity of many fans.
