welcome to the 48th annual apple blossom celebration !
dating all the way back to the 1970's is the apple blossom celebration, held at the engelmann valley farm's sprawling fruit-tree orchard, an idyllic gem of the blackwater community. what started as a simple church-sponsored-event of an apple-picking potluck has grown and evolved into a widely sponsored & exciting yearly event, certainly one of the biggest on blackwater's yearly calendar.
events at the celebration include but are not limited to— apple & fruit picking, pumpkin patch, cider & donut stand, cider pressing demonstration, hay-maze, craft & vendor booths, face painting, corn-hole competitions, live music, petting zoo, beer tent & food stands, bonfire, & of course— the pinnacle of the evening— the haunted hay ride. once the sun goes down, the ghouls come out, and the hay ride begins— and believe them when they say that it is not for the faint of heart.
the ride is incredibly dark and gruesome, filled with horror and halloween motifs so intense that you’ll need to show i.d. to prove you’re old enough to attend. the scariest moment arrives in the center of the orchard, where the light barely reaches, and all you can see is the moonlight glinting off the dewy apple-tree leaves. suddenly, the tractor-driver disappears, leaving you alone in the eerie stillness for who knows how long. whispers of "did you hear that?" and "did you see that?" fill the air. by the time the tractor roars back to life and the trailer starts moving again, reality will feel like a long-lost friend tethered by a fraying thread. the real question is … are you brave enough to handle it?
