sadly the zine on which I was working got cancelled, but it happens
here is one of the designs i'd worked on! i was rly glad to be able to give so much love to BW <3
Your art is always so emotional and beautiful, thank you for loving the BW! trio, thank you for those very funny Project Mew interactions (I can HEAR Gou’s “eh?”), and my God, The Wind Rises ones are so beautiful and bittersweet too! Thank you for letting them grow up with us. It feels reassuring. You know, BW! always had this nostalgic quality about embracing childhood and the ending songs, especially the movie endings Koe and Sora add to this.
that is SO kind, anon! WOW what a nice message to open tumblr inbox to <33 thank you so much for dropping by to say this ;__; im really glad if you liked both the BWOT3 return scenario and the Wind Rises wishfulshipping ones ohhh I really enjoyed doing both of them and it's so nice to hear specific feedback like this. I absolutely agree about BW having a nostalgic quality to it. I love BW to death. thank you for loving the BWOT3 also and again, for dropping this message -- this kind of niceness goes a long way and really made my day warmer! thank you!!
Regional Police au – the criminal investigations’ department has a lot on its plate
Manon is the youngest and the shortest police officer of the squad. Very good flair, very good arrest record. Gets a bit too easily excited on stake-outs, but makes up for it in skills and agility. Keeps a pet hedgehog in the office and loves macarons. She was best friends with Alan since their police academy days and looks up to him somewhat, although that doesn’t stop her from teasing him to her heart’s content No one doubts that she will get promoted soon. She is responsible for 80% of all that is lively and colorful in the office building
Dent is an assistant police inspector whose love for mysteries is unrivaled. Great head on his shoulders. Sharp detective. His latest hunch, though - that no one understands - is that Superintendent Fleurs-de-Lys is somehow hiding what he knows about the underground organization known as ‘The Flare’ (he hasn’t made much headway on this hunch) Dent brings home-cooked macarons to the office every other day, to Manon’s delight. He is getting moved, at Fleurs-de-Lys’ suggestion, to the National Security Bureau.
Iris is also an assistant police inspector. Takes shit from no one. Martial arts and weaponry skills are off the charts (she was top of her batch in the police academy) Calls Dent an idiot for his Fleur-de-Lys/Flare theory and would also rather swallow a cactus than admit that she’s sad to see Dent leave the department. Known for having a scarily accurate instinct when it comes to spotting the culprit in murder cases. Tendency to risk her own life a bit too much for Dent and Satoshi’s liking
Alan is a police sergeant – demoted for almost blowing up a high stakes case 1 year ago, disobeying his superior’s orders at a crucial moment to protect a colleague. Very good detective, but wears his heart on his sleeves. Respects Superintendent Fleur-de-Lys a lot (who also seems to favor Alan). Likes iced coffee and Dent’s macarons much more than he’d like to admit. Thinks that Daigo drives him up the wall every so often, but can’t get himself to dislike the guy either – they have a heated ‘rivalry’ that makes Manon snort her coke up her nose sometimes
Satoshi is a police officer who makes up for doppiness in sheer passion and guts. Same batch as Iris in the police academy and often riled her up for crazy challenges together (’race to the top of the tree with closed eyes!’ ‘ok!!!’) Adores Alan now that he’s in the department. Has a tendency to shout things like ‘PUPPY!’ ‘BUG!’ ‘BIRD!’ when on patrol. As much as the latter finds him embarrassing, his favorite patrol partners are Dent and Iris
Daigo is an assistant police inspector who is currently resisting his transfer to the National Security Bureau. Official reason is that he doesn’t feel up to the calibre of the job, with his current experience. Officious reasons are more personal. Sharpshooter and stronger than he looks. Nerdiness might rival Dent. He knows Mikuri since god knows when and hates that Mikuri’s pet fish is called Daigo (he knows Mikuri did it on purpose). Wishes (really hard) that Alan would smile at him more often.
Mikuri is a police inspector, with a managerial role within the department. Also the resident fashionista. Responsible for the other 20% of all that is colorful and glam in the building and dotes on Manon a lot. Has a tendency to carry his pet fish Daigo around in a bowl in his hands, almost like a handbag. Simultaneously the most laidback senior detective of the squad and the fucking damn scariest. Affectionately mocks Daigo for his attempts to protect Alan without the other man noticing. He officiously suspects that Daigo shares Dent’s suspicions about Fleur-de-Lys
