His eyes fall to the pizza in front of him, he wants it of course he does he’s just as hungry as he is tired but even the thought of having to move his arms is too much. Even so his eyes roll in response to her words.

“When don’t I look like shit? And In my defense I landed in a dumpster, if I didn’t look like shit I’d be worried.” But the subtle way his speech is off is enough to tell her everything, it’s when he’s this tired that the fact he’s deaf bleeds through his pronunciation.

Sarah raised an eyebrow, wrapping her scarf around her neck. She wasn’t sure why she’d been so surprised about the fact he could, in fact, look nice - it was a general skill in their career path. “Damn right,” she muttered, brushing off her skirt. 

“Here’s hoping we can actually get something at this party tonight.” Not that she didn’t enjoy an excuse to get dressed up and drink a little, but it would be nice if some information was gained. “Divide and conquer?”

Sterling had been working late, most of the departments had their lights out except for Intelligence Analysis where his office was a beacon of activity. He had slipped away to get a coffee filter from the break room, having run out in his office, when he noticed another person. The only other person he had seen for about 3 hours now. 

“Agent Romanoff.” He said curiously, though more as a statement than a question. “You’re here late.” 

“I didn’t think anyone else was still around.”

“Yes I saw the knife, much more worried about the gun he had down his pants.” Clint hissed into his comm, sprinting along a dusty back allyway, vaulting over a fence. Spotting an opening towards the forest surrounding the small Russian town, he booked it, managing to make the cover of the trees just as his pursuers came round the corner.

“You comin’ or what, Ghost?”

Finlay grinned at her little breath, moving his hand a little farther up the inside of her thigh. He tipped his head to the side, giving her room to kiss if she wished. There was something on the TV, but he’d stopped paying attention a long time ago. 

“I think you’re more interesting than the show,” he teased back, tipping his head down to nip at her neck in return. His thumb slowly began to brush an arch over the inside of her thigh, even as he shifted to press into her hands.

Images of mermaids tend to consist of long blonde hair falling oh-so-perfectly over a single shoulder, garments made from shells, and impractically beautiful tails in iridescent colours. Natasha, by these standards, was hideous. Red-headed, pale, teeth sharp enough to tear flesh from bone and a tail as dark as the rocks she was currently lingering behind. She had been watching Finlay clandestinely, curious eyes concealed behind strands of seaweed, yet she hadn't spoken, simply watched.

Finlay had been away from Scotland for a while, but sometimes he still felt an intense longing for what he still considered his true home. As much as he tried, sometimes he didn’t feel like he had fully adapted to the 21st century. 

He was, however, still extremely good at sensing when someone was watching him. He could feel the prickling sensation on the back of his neck and stood up, brushing the sand from his jeans. He couldn’t see anyone, but that didn’t mean they weren’t there.
